the Lake Mead Dinner cruise is possibly going to be stuck on land.... the costs have gone up w/ the Desert Princess and it's $135 pp for 50 people, $100 for 100 people, and $70/$75 for 150, etc...

SO... I may recommend we just do a dinner Sat night at a restaurant, such as Mon Ami Gabi (Paris, sidewalk-type restaurant overlooking the strip; moderately priced) or Stage WB @ the Venetian (we can probably get our own area.

When i'm done exhausting myself w/ work, i'll go through the thread and e-mail everyone and find out what they want to do....

Skydiving is still on... you don't need a group to do that!

Count me for two

Randy Petersen Aug 23, 2002 12:00 pm

Right now I can confirm that I will attend the Las Vegas event put together by UAPremierExec and will volunteer to host the start of the event.

Haven't been able to make many FT events lately so this should be fun.

Hope to see some of you there.

Well now that this is a month off and UAPremex has "rejoined" the board - are there any plans?

That line at the airport check-in will be around the airports fence.

Have a GREAT time no matter what to those going

kenjih Sep 5, 2002 11:09 pm

I may be able to go this weekend, which sounds pretty nifty. I wonder how fares are doing these days <g>

seanthepilot Sep 6, 2002 12:10 am

I am considering attending and will have a good idea in three days when I buy my other tickets for the winter.

Sounds like fun, but I wont be jumping out of any planes, sorry to say http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Germanfflyer Sep 6, 2002 1:29 am

I might be able to join with girlfiend but I would not know til a few days before the weekend.

Just a suggestion:

How about going to one of the shows featured at www.lasvegasadvisor.com

We could got to Scintas at the RIO for FREE!

But wait, I am very sure if a lot of people want to sign up for the coupon book we would get a group-rate!

OK I know I am cheap http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

jan, I'm just not posting on the boards anymore, if at all. I just came into chat to hang out :-) My job really keeps me busy.

In regards to shows, I mentioned Rita Rudner because she is a very good, clean act. She doesn't cuss, discuss off-topic things, and still makes the crowd laugh with her style and appearances.

I'll be glad to offer recommendations for any shows in vegas... http://www.tripres.com offers cheap tickets as well.

Saturday Night's activities are still undecided, as the dinner cruise won't be possible due to the water levels at lake mead (and we need to get 150 people to charter it and the nightly cruise isn't operating)... so we need some ideas... Mon Ami Gabi seems to have some interest as they can suit everyone's budget... then we can hit a show afterwards...

ideas?

BTW, Randy, your dinner is courtesy of Carnival Cruise Lines :-)

So far, the United Air Lines, Lufthansa, and Carnival sales reps will be at the dinner.... they'll have some travel-related contests to win prizes (not sure what, but I know that both the airline reps have LOTS of goodies you can use!)

Shirl Sep 6, 2002 12:50 pm

Please put me down as a probable attendee. I did just call on the FT room block and the FT rate at Bally's is still available. Others may want to jump on it though, because Nate mentioned in a previous posting that those rooms were going to be released on Sept. 5 (yesterday).

Looking forward to this. Haven't been to Vegas before (I know--I probably should post that in the "Humiliation" thread, right?)

I would like to see Rita Rudner--if anyone else is going, let me know. Oh, and no sky-diving for me.

UAPremierExec Sep 6, 2002 9:02 pm

So here's the plan.

Friday Night - We have some going to see Rita Rudner or Charo. Tickets for Rita Rudner are $44 plus tax. Charo @ Bravo start at $22 (at Sahara, not venetian anymore) and can be purchased at http://www.tripres.com

Saturday 5 October - Skydiving in the morning. We need to get this organized and going. The jump is $179 per person out of Boulder City Airport and is a TANDEM. No solo diving allowed, unless someone knows of a company that will do both.

At 7PM, we will offer Rita Rudner @ New York New York hotel. Tickets are $44 plus tax.

link - http://www.newyorknewyorkcasino.com/...t_cabaret.asp#

At 930PM, we'll meet at Paris Las Vegas for dinner at Mon Ami Gabi. Randy Peterson should be present, as will Tameika Pinchback of United Airlines, Carol (forgot last name) of Lufthansa, and Saskia Olsen from Carnival. Dinner can run as low as $15, and may go as high as $100 per person.

Sunday - Still working on this. Ethel M Chocolate factory tour? :-)

I'm confirmed! I just phoned Bally's and booked October 5. Interestingly, when I called, they initially said they were full up. When I identified myself as part of the FlyerTalk group, they found a room for me for $125. (Plus tax = $136.25, 14 day cancellation policy.)

I've been a member of FT for over a year, so it is clearly time I meet Randy!

bseller Sep 7, 2002 8:16 pm

Since scheduling has managed to work out!! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
I look forward to meeting up with some/many/all? of you in Las Vegas!!

With the exception of any activities related to "voluntarily" falling out of the sky! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Best wishes.

I'm not sure if my family and I can make it yet, but add myself, blondie_36, and fparker1 to the maybe list, except for the skydiving. I've got issues with jumping out of perfectly good airplanes. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Pony Girl! (formerly known as Hands Off) Welcome to your first posting on Flyertalk. Tell your mom and dad Hi, and I hope you can all come--it would be great to see you guys again.

seanthepilot Sep 9, 2002 11:00 pm

Change me from a maybe to a confirmed! I managed to get a UA seat sale YVR-LAS, but I fly out on the 3rd, so will be ther a day early.

If anyone else is early too, lets meet up for a bite or somthing on Thursday too!

(I still haven't reserved a room. Does anyone wanna split room/costs?)

kawoh Sep 11, 2002 7:08 am

I'd love to come, but unfortunately i just don't have time to fit it into my schedule. Will be in SFO from the 1st-5th Oct, then in YYC/YEG from the 5th-8th Oct.

Hope everyone has a great time.

dmfriedman Sep 12, 2002 10:55 pm

Count me in for the Saturday night dinner... not sure about anything else due to budget constraints. But since I'll be living in LAS as of the end of this month, I probably should show my face at a LAS do... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

SeeYa Sep 17, 2002 1:55 pm

Please change me from a maybe to a No. I unfortunately will not be able to attend.
Maybe next time!

seanthepilot Sep 17, 2002 9:09 pm

OK, I got some rooms (1 night here, 2 over there, 1 back here again). But still like to hook up with the crew as ppl arive.

I'm in for dinner on Sat, and I guess I'll look at show tickets for the 2 nights.... but still no sky-diving for this cowboy. LOL

Can't wait..... see you all there! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Grasshopper Sep 17, 2002 10:51 pm

Sadly, almost definitely will NOT be able to make it out to this one. It's that whole military-exercise-preparing-for-war thing. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Have fun, and blue skies for those jumping out of perfectly good airplanes!!!

Randy Petersen Sep 19, 2002 10:36 am

I just ticketed myself - earning more miles - and looking forward to seeing those who are attending this. I'll bring along the goodie bag.....

UAPremierExec Sep 20, 2002 5:23 pm

No word from anyone wanting to jump from the planes yet http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

It would probably be nice if the FlyerTalk group can pay for the dinners for the United and Lufthansa Sales reps.. they are spending personal time on their weekends to come and visit with us and talk about the company and clarify policies/issues going on.... I'm wondering if it will be bad to ask for $2 to $4 per attendee to cover their meals/drinks?

So far:

Friday Night/Saturday AM-

Welcome drinks at 1230AM (i know, late, but this place NEVER sleeps!) at Fontana Lounge at the Bellagio. This is the lounge that faces the fountains. I'm not sure who is hosting this, so just look for myself and SFO1K... I'll be the 23 y/o fat blonde kid who looks exhausted...

Saturday Afternoon
Early afternoon Lunch buffet (1:30PM)
MY personal choices being an ex-local are the Mirage Buffet ($15) and The Palms... but being the latter is out of the way, what would you all like to do for lunch?

Saturday 7PM Rita Rudner @ NY NY
We will get together Friday PM or SAT AM and make a list of who is going and collect $$ for the tickets. People that want to pay w/ credit card should probably go with me to get the tickets. I'll then drop the tickets off in an envelop to your rooms @ ballys/Paris or wherever you are staying.

Saturday Night/Sunday Morning

Not sure if we could hit a bar or even meet at a Club (C2K @ Ventian comes to mind (except their $10-$20 cover), there is the GhostBar at The Palms or even Rain)... I'm personally not into the Vegas clubs, but I'd go if we had a group of people !

Patron will be in Vegas until 3PM on Saturday, so hopefully we can do a get together for the lunch buffet and meet up with him!

Let's see as i pack my bags for this Las Vegas FT Board Meeting: a couple dozen FT luggage tags to give away (check), a couple dozen FT pins to give away (check), a dozen or so FT t-shirts to give away (check), 10-20,000 AAdvantage miles to give away in increments of 500 (check), an exclusive 'House of Miles' denim shirt with the official logo (check), low balance on my double mile earning United Mileage Plus Visa to pick up bar tabs and other treats for FlyerTalkers (check), one or two of the infamous MCI black bags last seen at the PIP (Party in Paradise) for possible giveaway or raffle (check), ummmm, let's see, what else am i missing?

See you all there and this should be fun. As a side note: the infamous mileage man, Randy Petersen was at one time a member of the varsity football team at the University of Nevada Las Vegas and actually played as a freshman before transferring the next year (just never fully appreciated the .99 buffets....). His claim to fame - one of the (if not the....) fastest guys on the team.

wingless Sep 26, 2002 11:07 am

Randy I still have my:

MCI Bag
FT Pin
FT T-shirt (very worn)
FT coffee mug

Thanks Again

Cheri

I am still trying to work on making it but I just don't know if I can do it.

The airline tickets Randy. The TICKETS! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

kenjih Sep 27, 2002 10:39 am

hehe - which airline this time? <g>

rbernheim Sep 27, 2002 12:43 pm

My wife and I will get in late afternoon on Friday. Anyone around in the early evening for dinner or? Send me a e-mail, we are at Bally's.

Shirl Sep 28, 2002 3:21 pm

For those who are interested in attending Rita Rudner on Saturday at 7 pm, please email me and I'll be glad to go ahead and purchase a block of tickets for the show, so we can all sit together.

I'd appreciate it if you can Paypal me or make other arrangements by Monday night for the ticket payment, so I'll know how many tickets to purchase. I'll then be emailing everyone to let them know how we'll arrange to get their tickets to them. Saw Rita on the Wayne Brady show yesterday--she's still as hilarious as I remember from her HBO special!

P.S. to Randy--I REALLY like the way you pack!
