So, when I say that they should be "beaten to the fullest extent of the law" that is simply my way of expressing outrage over what has been done to our community.

JonNYC, I would love to see the humor in your words ... but our FT relationship isn't too strong. Even after my humble apologies to the board upon my entrance here a few months ago.

So, as I have stated before in other posts, let your anger rest toward me, and I, too, can begin to appreciate your online humor.

I'd like to.

And I'd also like to see this bum get caught and prosecuted. Since I haven't yet filled out WWAA (and neither have you, unless I missed your name), you wouldn't know that my real career is covered within the boundries of the FCC and Federal Crime. We see these poachers all the time and wish them away quickly. It affects stock prices too much like this dude afffects Rewards Programs.

We done?

I turned to Flyertalk today to get away from being reminded of bad news. Then I read this.

I'm quite concerned.

My concern is not just related to the past, but also the present and future. If someone has no intention of paying, they are willing to pay any amount. That is, even with the current mileage and points rewards levels per subscription, IF and Randy are still in danger from the actions of an unscrupulous few.

Randy, I'm sure that you have thought through this. I hope that procedures are available to protect you.

For the future, I am willing to do whatever will protect IF and FT. If sending payment via c2it would help, I would do that. If sending a check would help, I would do that. If waiting several months for points to post would help, I would do that as well. (And no complaining on the board either.) I like this promotion and would miss it; however, if there is no way to protect IF and you, I would support the promo being cancelled indefinitely.

As a little bit of putting my money where my mouth is, I have donated $100 to Great Escape 2002. I encourage everyone else to make a donation as well. We may want to "beat" Mr. Wilkinson to "the fullest extent of the law" but I believe we are better served by supporting our community.

OK, now you have managed to really confuse me. When you "wish them away" do you mean
a) you have super powers, and just wishing for something will do the trick
b) you just wish they would go away instead of prosecuting them
c) you wish them put away quickly, as a bystander rather than as a prosecutor

and what exactly is Federal Crime?

I have to admit that I'm a bit put off by the tone of the announcement.

Do you know Benedict Wilkinson? If so, any information is greatly appreicated so that the law can deal with this person and we can go back to being a respectful community of frequent travelers. This person has shamed FlyerTalk and caused Starwood members the loss of earning additional bonus points from InsideFlyer
This has nothing to do with the vast majority of us. Punishing the community for the actions of a few classless people is not the way to run a business. My suggestion to Randy is to get better controls in place if he doesn't want to get taken by con artists.

Regardless of the actions of "Benedict" et al, I still think FT is still a "respectful community of travelers." Most of us don't have to "get back" to it...

I'm sure that was writen in a respectful tone. Reading tone into emails, chat rooms, etc can be a dicey proposition. But on another subject, I'm not sure I understand exactly what happend, even after reading Randy's message. tls

I have determined from diligent and extensive checking and verification that ozstamps has indeed a couple of decades back passed the 30th birthday milestone. And it appears he has no intention whatever of re-locating to Kingsgrove.

Sydney police did however divulge to me the local offender's first name was Ken, and his true address was Sacramento CA.

nhila - if you have a thread within a thread taking place here, there is a neat forum called OMNI that might be just the place to launch that properly, as no-one here seems to follow your problem. Or taking it to private email is even better.

TRAVELMANKEN: To answer your question ... my response was aimed at JonNYC.

SEEYA: To wish away can be a loosely-coined phrase to basically wish somebody didn't exist. And what is a Federal Crime? Let's say you stole or steal, ummm, Cable or Satellite TV. It is a crime to be prosecuted in Federal Court. Not State. Not in front of a Muni Judge or a simple commissioner. Help?

OZSTAMPS: I have read you for a while. I guess I feel honored having you respond to something I wrote. Thanks for letting me off the hook. I have asked my official lurker, JonNYC, to e-mail me offline if he's got issues, but he hasn't taken me up yet.

So to avoid the Omni scare, the three-word-waste-of-time discussions: I believe crime against anything is wrong. Especially, when you become a thief of FF pts and do anything which may harm others.

Can't wait to see the bashing from this one ...

Had JonNYC not posted the announcement here I would never have seen it. I still do not know where he sourced it to be honest. It is not showing up an 'announcement', and it appears not to have been an Admin thread in SPG Forum? So Randy is hardly pushing this matter under anyone's nose.

I suspect the matter would not have been raised at all unless some serious bucks were involved, and it seems to me that it was made in the hope someone here might be able to assist recover the funds involved, whatever they were. If I owned this resource I'd do the same.

I doubt many of us would wish to see Randy's company out of pocket via a con-man over a deal that 100s of FlyerTalkers benefited from, and will now get to 'afford' a Concorde journey. And maybe a future Concorde flight if the con-men can be kept at bay, and such offers be re-promoted later on.

It was in FT Announcements last night, but since has been removed.

You can see the announcement if you're in the Starwood forum.

I agree that I don't want to see Randy or his company bilked. His "wanted" posting looks filled with emotion, and after what has transpired today, I can certainly understand that.

My "problem" (if it can even be called that) is that the brush he is using is pretty wide. I don't see the Mayor of New York taking his citizens to task for a mugging, I don't expect the Mayor of FT taking us (or me) to task for something we had nothing to do with.

It has kinda' been "in and out" for the last two days-- it appeared pretty constantly yesterday afternoon, then disappeared then came back, and so on. At least that's the way it's appeared on my end.

I am by no means the sharpest knife in the drawer here skofarrell, I admit that, but I did in fact look for 5 mins in Starwood before I just posted. I could not see it anywhere. Can you point me in the right direction please? Was it a thread type announcement? I looked back on past 4 SPG pages and could not see one.

Go to the Starwood forum and click on In Memoriam 9/11/01 above all posts. Scroll down to Criminal At Large - Need Your Help.
