Upgrades, passes for Team FlyerTalk

With $$ donations (at least the public ones) running thin, I thought I would throw out this idea as another way we can help...

Whomever is selected as the representatives of Team Flyertalk will certainly be mighty road warriors, fleet of foot, swift of intellect.

What they might not be is an elite member with miles on an airline they need to fly for the next leg of the journey. They might not find this out until just a short time before the flight.

I don't know if the rules would allow them to upgrade, and upgrading any leg involving an oxcart is totally up to the competitor, but we could surely help out with anything airport or airline related.

I envision a list of FlyerTalk members who agree to spend their FF and or personal resources to help comfort/upgrade our team as they make their way around the globe.

We could collect a wallet of lounge passes/upgrade certs (returned if unused).

Or perhaps a list of FT members who major in different alliances/airlines, along with cellphone numbers who can be called 24/7 for help.

Volunteers to stop by the airport with a smile and a jelly sandwich?

This way more of us could participate than just the two chosen members. Imagine the thrill of getting a call for help at 1:00am from a FlyerTalker on the other side of the world

Any other thoughts?

Cheers,

birdstrike

I agree with letiole. Also, I think there should be a way to donate "anonymously" as well. I don't think that everybody wants to post the amount they're giving.

BTW - any ETA on this announcement?

It appears that you have to click a box if you want your info posted..leave it unclicked and that should make you anonymous.

Hi birdstrike,

I had already proposed this in the original race thread, because, as you have stated, the FT group is a powerful tool in and of its own.

The potential resources available would more than prove to be no match for other competitors.
