Vote for the Worst Airline/Hotel Combo

My worst nightmare would be to live in Atlanta, fly Delta and stay at Mariotts.

Wow, didn't expect to find this under FT Community but I will bite and play your game. I would probably have to say fly out of JFK on Delta and use Radisson or Holiday Inn. This is among the worst for service and I can imagine ATL being terrible if DL elite as upgrades are fictitious.

For pricing, I would say be based out of Houston and fly Continental or in Minneapolis/Detroit and fly with Northwest. Price gauging would be fairly active there.

If it is such a small world, why have I been on this airplane for more than 12 hours?!?

Obviously you've not done many weekday trips on US out of CLT! When talking overpriced, remember it was CLT (thanks to US) that was named the #1 most expensive city to fly into & out of

Although, living in PHL would be great, being captive to US and staying at Holiday Inns would be tough. (Just ask one of our marketing execs who frequently takes the train to BWI.)

For price, the worst has to be DL out of CVG. Several years ago, I flew DAY-CVG-SAN-CVG-DAY for less than $300 (DL). Pricing for CVG-SAN-CVG (same flights) was north of $1300. No wonder there are now services that shuttle travelers to DAY and CMH.

Airline: Air Canada (as a non-elite). 50% domestic mileage accrual, no chance for an upgrade (ever), and virtually no chance at getting a reward seat to any place that you want or need to go.

Lodging: Holiday Inns. Old, humid, mildewy, "Holidome" Holiday Inns.

:shudder:

Oh... among programs where I actually have status, I would agree.

My worst nightmare, however, is one that some of the folks on another team at our corporation actually live... to live in Dallas, fly Southwest, and stay at La Quintas. (I shudder!)

Hey, y'all, stay FAR away from Delta. That instant upgrade stuff for plats is unbearable. And who can tolerate all that southern hospitality? It's just unbelievable.

And please stay away from Marriott! What a terrible company! They only hire friendly, competent people to FRUSTRATE you.

C'mon folks! There isn't a "best" and "worst". There are companies and programs which appeal to different clienteles in different circumstances. We have good or better or worse experiences with them all.

This sort of thread, while it creates a certain "buzz", does not enhance either our community or our miles experience.

How about "which airlines and hotels do you avoid and why?" or "is there a travel combination that doesn't work for you?"

(BTW, my terrible twosome would be Continental and Starwood. Based on painful, bitter, much too frequent experience. Lots of you would not agree with that, eh?)

"Service" should be a noun, not a verb.
