I have no information on regular train service between KUL and SIN. However, if you have the cash there is the Orient Express that runs between the two cities and is ultra first class. Check out the details at www.orient-expresstrains.com

I took the bus from SIN to Johor..very easy ride to the border ..where you de-bus..go thru immigration twice..re-board the bus to town. I found it very different than SIN
..and only about an hour or 2 away. Johor
is a really a cool place with lots of shops and eateries. Very good prices on electronic gadgets too. ..and the price can't be beat..even in Thailand. Although the selection is not nearly as good as in BKK.
