The kenji/lisamcgu/ChannelCinq update:

Sounds like things are a little up in the air (heh) - we may head to Butter at 354 11th St (bar near some of the SOMA clubs and whatnot) around 10pm. And party in SF afterwards. Suggest calling ChannelCinq's mobile at 415-309-7611.

thanks,
kenji

lisamcgu and I are at the bar at Hotel Rex. They have a computer with internet access in the middle of - Hey! Its me, Lisa ... - the bar (of OK Lisa).

We may or may not drive down to SFO. We were thinking about going to Butter later on. If anyone wants info/ directions call me at 415-309-7611. We will post again after dinner (not like anyone will be online then).

Thanks so much to SFOJFK and kluau88 for keeping up with this thread and getting everyone info. I killed my palm pilot battery for more than 24 hours and lost everything -- even the software that let me grab this thread and respond to emails.

In any case, I had a wonderful trip (trip report forthcoming), including an SFOJFK special driving tour, kluau88 personalized Hard Rock Cafe shopping trip, and of course meeting those of you who were able to make it for dinner and drinks. My great regrets were two: one, that Rudi arrived just as I was leaving so that I literally only had time to say hello and two, that I forgot to take the camera out of my bag after my driving tour and so I didn't get photos of the FTers gathered! Markbach would never have made such a mistake and I hang my head in shame.

I vote for ClueByFour as the official FT comedian -- he has a definite second calling if he ever decides to quit his day job. ChanelCinq gets my vote as the official style maven for FT, though BingoSF's travel wardrobe is also much more stylish than mine.

School starts back up this week and yet I find myself tempted by trying to meet up with this crowd on 4/7 for the Rudi dim sum event. Ah well, maybe SEA. Great to meet some new faces and to see so many of those I met in Philly. Hope we cross paths again.

Meanwhile, anyone who ends up in CVG, let me know. It's a ways out of town, so I usually can't meet for short layovers, but would be happy to plan a dinner or whathaveyou if you'll be in this part of the world long enough to accommodate it.

(Edit for typos in a couple of names)

Just wanna add my 2 cents...I had a great time meeting up with those I had already met previously - SFOJFK, bingoSF, ClueByFour, ChanelCinq and all the wonderful new faces - ElmhurstNick, HollyHP, Horizon, Kenji, Lisamcgu, LarryU, and Rudi.

Also can't forget markbach who joined us via satellite

Looks like I'll see some of you later this week and some of you at the huge ChicagoDO.

Got home yesterday afternoon where I immediately fell into bed to sleep off the effects of the extended wknd.

Along with the two FT get togethers (drinks til 1:15 am in SFO and a late arrival at the Sacramento dinner the next nite), I had other events all wknd, so I have over 120 pictures to upload and manage!

With that, I'll get you guys a picture link asap.

I'm just glad I could make another Bay Area event. Had fun meeting everyone Saturday night. I'm glad I met all of you, but my sleeping patterns have been screwed up for my WI trip this week.

Sorry Holly for the mini driving tour. Just wish we had more time to cover more of the City by the Bay.

Also, next time ChanelCinq, lisamcgu, and kenjih, we'll have another time to go out on the town.

kluau and bingoSF, nice choice for dinner.

Clue, it was another fun encounter. I have to fly the Scareways some time and join you in PIT.

Horizons, nice meeting you and maybe we could start another Bay Area do with the other FTers in town.

Rudi and Mark, I hope you guys are having fun on your West Coast tour.

Nice to meet you, LarryU. Hopefully your JFK flight connecting through TPE went well.

Nick, you're seriously making me think about ORD.

Well another fun FT weekend passed. Sorry for the late post but I have been working insane hours. The few photos that I took are still on my camera (along with SAN the weekend before) and they are all coming with me to RDU this weekend until I can down load them next week.

So lisamcgu and I had dinner at Hotel Rex for an IGUGO awards presentation. And Lisa won an award but I completely forgot for what. They had a raffle and I took home a 5 language translator which was really nice. kenjih then picked us up and we headed down to the SFO Marriott to meet the FT gang. We stayed til last call (surprise?) which meant I couldnt go clubbing back in the city. It worked out well because I could chat with the FT gang and then when we arrived back in the city I found this cute boy to party with and shortly after I met him, the two of us were invited to party in this guys limo until the wee hours of the morning.

Got a couple hours of sleep before Kenji picked up Lisa and I for Napa. This now goes to another thread - the Rudi Sac dinner.

My thank you list:

lisamcgu for taking me to the IGOUGO awards dinner Saturday night. I now met a new group of internet travelers that are not quite as insane as FTers. And also Lisa for organizing the weekend and coming into town.

kenjih for being our gracious driver and knowing Napa a lot better than I do - except those side hills where Lisa got us lost. Thanks for putting up with the two of us crazy girls.

kluau88 for starting the party. Sorry we missed the dinner which I heard you guys had a good time.

HollyHP for also getting the party started although we only met for 30 seconds as she was leaving for the airport.

Rudi and Mark for bring chocolate and being the guests of honor.

-------

SFOJFK it is about time we met after you flaked on so many local dinners. I hope you can make it to brunch on the 7th.

Horizions I think I knew more about you than you of me from our Australian friend. Sorry we didnt get to chat more.

Nice meeting ElmhurstNick and talking ORD do. Although he says he was dragged into it by the girls, which is probably true.

LarryU we didnt really get to talk but there are many FT events in the future. Glad you made it to this one.

Oh and thank you techgirl, GuyBetsy and kokonutz for the call. Although since it was on my home phone I didnt get the message until Tuesday. Jen hope you guys had a nice dinner last night. SJC is way too far to drive on a week night. Koko I dont know what language you were speaking on the phone. It sounded a little like French but I think it was just simply drunk language (and a bit of bad cell connection). But I opt more for drunken slurred language.
