Chicago Do attendees,......a request
Shameless plea to all ORD attendees,
I am making this shameless plea to you as a Starbucks City Mug collector. Not sure when I got hooked on this hobby, but now I am in too deep to quit. I figured this might be a good chance to flesh out my collection so here goes....
If you live in a city other than those listed below that has the Starbucks City Mugs available, could I please ask you to pick one up and bring it with you to the Chicago Do? If you can do so I will not only reimburse you but will buy your first drink at the Hyatt on either Friday night or Saturday night session at the famous bar there.
So as to avoid doubling up, if you can bring a mug from your town, can you please either post here the City Mug you will bring or e-mail me privately.
Thank you for even reading this far and I hope to be able to buy many many drinks in Chicago.
City Mugs I already have are:
Australia, Sydney, Switzerland, Tokyo, Kobe, Yokohama, Pattaya, Chiang Mai, Phuket, Samui
Hawaii, East Bay, San Francisco, California, Las Vegas, Chicago, Boston, San Diego, Santa Monica, Los Angeles
New York City, New York State, New York City (Taxis), Vancouver, Toronto, Houston, Dallas, San Antonio,
Washington, D.C., Atlanta, Miami, Singapore, Manila, Bangkok, Seattle, Pike Place, Washington State,
Taipei, Beijing, Shanghai, Japan 2002, Hong Kong, London, United Kingdom, Scotland, Victoria,
New Orleans, Calgary, Tel Aviv, Kuala Lumpur, Waikiki, Philadelphia, Austin
And again,.....Thank you for checking this post.
Mike

I was about to chastise you for not posting this earlier as I would've been happy to pick up a mug for you while on my travels this past weekend but I see you've already got mugs from each city that I visited! That being said, when I continue my RTW I'll know now to grab mugs for you and ship 'em to you. You can pay me back in Pocky.

Mike: There was an article in the WSJ last week about "fast-coffee" places setting up shop in France.
Starbucks hasn't made it here yet, but I'll send you a mug when it does.

Starbucks Coffee Co. has so far ignored France, at least for now, focusing its European expansion instead on the U.K., Germany, Spain and Greece. But it says it plans to open a shop in France soon. "We want to build one cup at a time, one store at a time, according to customer response [and] we hope in the next few years to be in France," says Mark McKeon, president of Starbucks' Europe, Middle East and Africa operations.

I was going to be happy to comply, but alas I saw you already have SAT! Hope you get lots of mugs.
I collect lapel pins, but my personal rule is I have to purchase them myself in the locale. Maybe I shouldn't be so rigid. . .

Sorry this wasn't posted earlier. Had I known, I would have picked you up one from the Starbucks in Vienna, right across from the Opera! I see you already have Toronto, so I guess I can't be of much help. See you at the ballgame on Friday.

MIKESILV,
Thank you for checking on this. Would love it if you can find one.
blairvanhorn,
There goes the neighborhood right?
If a they do invade Francve I would love a Paris mug. Merci in advance.
paradocs,
Thank you for thinking of me, and when you come to Tokyo to get your pin here, I will look forward to buying you cold beer/ warm sake.
Spiff,
Thanks buddy. Maybe they will issue them before your next Tokyo run.
Jan,
I would love to have one if they are available. PHX or even Arizona (the state) is great. Thank you.
Shareholder,
I think I shall just have to get to Vienna myself if I know they have the mugs there. HAve been looking for an excuse to explain my next European trip to my wife and that will do as nicely as any.
Catch you on Friday.
Thanks again one and all,
And now shamelessly.........Anybody else have access to one of these?
Please, please, pretty please.
Mike

Brother Mike... I tried to find a mug in beautiful Hoboken, NJ but only found those "starbucks est whatever the date was" boring mugs
I'll check at my hometown Jersey City Starbucks this week and if I find I'll e-mail you.

KLAU88: You have most likely seen those small lapel pins (in bins or on turnstyle displays) in souvenier shops. They cost from $2 - $6 and up. The junkier the better. I started collecting them about 12 years ago because they are inexpensive, easy to find and small to pack. Sometimes I race thru airports on my conquest.
I bought several nice (gold toned wooden) frames at Michael's. They are actually large shadow boxes. Every time I have a new handful of pins I add them to my boxes. I have nearly completed two boxes with about 300 pins. It's a conversation piece and it makes me happy to look at them and recall many fabulous travels.
I think one of my most memorable aquisitions was in S. Dakota when I saw a pin that said: "I Climbed Harney's Peak". (Harney's peak is supposedly the tallest point between the Rockies and the Alps.) I wanted that pin! But my rigid rules don't allow a pin in the collection that isn't representative of something I have done. So, my family set out for the trek up Harney's Peak. The summitt was breathtaking and I earned the pin!
The whole family joins in to make sure I find just the right pin when we conquer a new place. Makes for fun and a purpose.
WOW! More than anyone ever wanted to know I am sure! And BTW: a Flyer Talk pin is proudly displayed in the middle of one of the boxes!
Now to add ORD to the collection!
