Hyatt Regency Chicago Notes

I was at the HRC last night to have dinner with dgolds and Keith. They were both staying at the Hyatt. A few notes regarding the hotel that dgolds suggested I pass along:

The phone charges are criminal. I don't recall the exact amount...but something like a $1.20 for local calls for 20 minutes, then a per minute charge. Plus charges for calling 800 numbers too. At those rates, I am leaving my laptop at home.

There are no coffee makers in the rooms. But there are free coffee machines at the end of the hall. While it is vending coffee, I was told it was okay/good. But still, not in the room.

The Big Bar is indeed Big. But since it is a very open area I don't FTers will have any trouble finding each other.

For those few that are driving in, hotel parking is $33/day with in and out privileges. Note that my room is $46. Too bad I cannot Priceline a parking space.

Thanks for the information. Let's hope there are ice machines at the end of the hall as well!

$1.15 for local and 800 calls, then .10 per minute after that. I couldn't get a dial up connection faster than 28.8, either. Toto, we're not in Silicon Valley anymore!

I heard that not all floors have the coffee machines. There is a coffee bar in the lobby that's not too unreasonable (but the people working there make a terrible cappucino).

A couple of other notes:

- Keith told me his safe had a big label on it indicating a $5/day charge. My safe didn't have one. I wasn't charged anything for using the safe. But you might want to pay attention to this gouge.

- My room didn't have a high speed Internet connection. Don't know if any of the other rooms did.

- Rooms are spacious and comfortable, your basic Hyatt property, but seems like it is in need of a refresh. Hotel staff was exceedingly nice.

Horrors Belle! My husband is so fanatical about convenience for his morning coffee that he will be there at 5 AM on the dot!

Because I want to save you, my friend, I will be sure to pack our mini coffee pot!

Trust those three to provide useless information. What we really want to know is if there are vanity mirrors in the bathrooms, what brand are the amenities etc, etc, etc...

I seem to remember coffe makers in the rooms on the consierge floor, and the hors d'oeurves they put out for evening cocktails can be quite substantial....not to mention the deserts and after dinner drinks!! I'm soooooooooo jealous!

The lighting in the elevators is harsh.
