Where's Doc?
Anyone seen or heard from Doc lately?
|
I got an email from him yesterday actually ... my guess is that he is serving out a Flyertalk time-out, though I don't know that for sure ...
|
Let's stay with the facts, Doc is not on any kind of time-out from FlyerTalk that i am aware of (and i think i'd know). Might be taking an early 7th inning stretch now that Yankeee baseball is almost ready to start. Actually, he may be a Met fan but i hope he can help correct me if i'm wrong about the Yankees.
|
Got an email from him this a.m. Perhaps work and family obligations are momentarily hindering his Flyertalking.
|
He emailed a response to a question I just had in the I-C forum. So he seems to be reading and replying by email rather than posting.
|
I hope the irresponsible comments against his contribution have not made him reticent about keeping us abreast of literally everything that is happening. DOC Please come back I miss your posts
|
Is one allowed to post what the rumour-mill has to say about this or would that be politically incorrect....???
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/rolleyes.gif |
I think I can answer that. This is not a rumor board when it comes to our members. We are kind, compassionate and always interested in their great health, but we won't rumor about them - and I'm here to make sure you don't either. If we all provide the best possible travel information, advice and opinons, no one can resist that. But if you provide something else, even i can resisit that.
Bottom line: I don't want to hear personal rumors on FlyerTalk - which means you don't either. It's my Board and that's my rule. [This message has been edited by Randy Petersen (edited 03-21-2002).] |
The fact that we are a community means that there will be gossip and questions. Here is another fact - I wish it were not the case, but doc has not posted here since his posting privileges were reinstated.
|
I heard that Chexfan is posting as Gaucho.
[This message has been edited by kokonutz (edited 03-22-2002).] |
People, Randy has twice said to drop it. Let's show him some respect by doing so.
|
Drop what...? Are we going to be gagged on this board? Why are we pretending? PG beat me to it, but if we are so big about this being a community and not just a BBoard, then we must face the facts. Just pretending that all is nice and "the boogie-man" doesnt exist solves nothing.
The facts are that there continues to be unrest on FT. Why...? I will state it again: the unrest is because RULES ARE NOT APPLIED TO ALL MEMBERS EQUALLY. There's your problem. Doc doesnt post because he feels betrayed. Heck, I was offended by a NJDavid post (which BTW was offensive to many others) and he got away with that. So, what rules apply to which persons? Randy, judging from your post perhaps you need to be better informed of whats going on. The first thing we need around here is for you, as the owner of the Circus, to know whats going on. Else, you are led by "some" to make uninformed decisions based on their agendas. I guess Im just too stupid to understand what really goes on here, but this is certainly my read of the situation. We all need to either take this board with a couple of grains of salt, or... if we are gonna get serious, we first need to be sincere and depart from "wonderland". As you said, Randy, this is your board. Please make a decision. ------------------ Gaucho100K (edited for grammar and emphasis) [This message has been edited by Gaucho100K (edited 03-21-2002).] |
Gaucho: How dare you? Have you no respect? I call for a timeout!
|
Kokonutz-- I have more than respect. I have an opinion and my pulse doesnt shake when I must post about it. And, I would ask, why do I suddenly deserve a timeout?
[This message has been edited by Gaucho100K (edited 03-21-2002).] |
OK, slicky-boy. Fine. You don't deserve a timeout. You deserve banishment.
Your 'opinion' is a violation of the TOS. Remember the TOS? Huh? Do you? It says you shouldn't call other FTers names, you big doofus. Can't you see that, or are you too busy ripping off third world nations of their precious resources? Perhaps you can get away with such attitudes in the world of international banking, but this is AMERICA, buddy-boy, and here you show respect or get out. BTW, Argentina (and Argentine wine) Sucks. [This message has been edited by kokonutz (edited 03-22-2002).] |
Kokonutz-- Have you been drinking again? I can help. Forward me your snail mail address and I will send you a case of Mablec from El Alto Valle de Mendoza. Then tell me about Argentine wine.
And please, dont steer this thread away from the real issues, if you want to discuss the stuff of Baccus, start a thread in OMNI. |

It does not matter if I agree or disagree with what Gaucho100K says. The rules have to be the same for everyone. I may not attack him personally, by reminding him that he owes me a currywurst- that is all.
|
Currywurst? I stil can't believe you guys like to ruin perfectly good bratwurst http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif Or do you just like to eat with toothpicks? Next it'll be mayonnaise on the fries.

Guys, I love the humour, and I dont like mayo on my fried, I owe Emailman a Currywurst, but please lets stick to the issues here and discuss the fun/humourous stuff in a separate thread.
It does this 'community' no good to shove out heads into some hole and pretend all is well. Yes, the facts are the facts, but its also true that rumours many times have a good dose of facts behind them. |
While Gaucho100K won't be able to answer this thread right now, I will repeat, I like to hear the sound of opinions on travel, miles and points, not rumors.
I can say again that Doc is not on any forced time out from FlyerTalk. I still think it's about the start of baseball season there in New York. I remember that occasionally I take some time away from FlyerTalk. I call it my mental health day. |
Yes, travelassist YES. But ASKING Gaucho to take a time out is not the same as issuing him one.
The TOS clearly state that calling names is not allowed. That son-of-a-crud Argentine abuser of developing nations has violated those terms. He is a no-account fool and...worst of all has not taste in wine. Threats and suggestiongs suck. Time him out!!! |

Beckles (The Clown) - Kokonuts

Randy:
Doc is a Yankee fan, but baseball season doesn't start for another week and a half, so I can't imagine what he would need to do to prepare. Unless, of course, he's a Cablevision subscriber, in which case he's probably been spending several days installing his DirectTV dish so he can get the games on the new YES Network. Otherwise, even the seats in Yankee Stadium can get cleaned in a couple of hours with a family-size bottle of Fantastik and a package of anti-matter chewing gum. |

Well, I miss him.

Good Wine: Carmen 1998 Cabernet Sauvignon Valle Lentral (I have a bottle in my carry-on right now)
Not Good Wine: Alfredo Roca Malbec 1996. At least [i]someone in South America knows how to vint. Good Whine: "I cant post on FT for a while." Not Good Whine: "Ooooh, I'm in New Orleans and have no place to sleep and the hotel won't give me a room and its 5 am and I am tired. Waaaahhhh." At least one clown (hint: not Beckles the...) knows how to travel.... |
Just to be fair, I think I'm going to start threads for everyone else who hasn't posted this week.

it is not difficult to communicate with doc. Here is his email-address: [email protected]

A non-rumour answer to where Doc is:
He is reading FT every now and then but not so interested in being part of FT as he feels the timeouts were not handled equally. I cannot blame him for one second and would be long done with FT if it had been me. The inequity is huge. Dorian |

Sorry, Becky. Guess I was too busy making an ... of myself http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

I haven't been concerned about where doc is, etc. I do enjoy reading his posts. IMHO it is only "his" business when he wants to/not want to post on FT. NOT my business or anyone else's business where doc is, etc. I may have the pleasure to meet doc someday.
|
Perhaps we should ask "kid" if he knows when Doc will post again?
Oh, and Gaucho100K, just to set the record straight, you claimed you were offended by something factual I posted about another website. I apologized to you in public, and in a private e-mail, as no offense to you was meant. You never had the courtesy to reply to that e-mail. I have never, NEVER said "no" to anyone who politely asked me to apologize because something I wrote offended them. [This message has been edited by NJDavid (edited 03-23-2002).] |
Offensive? You mean calling you, NJDavid, a TOS violator?
