AMS in the coming weeks?

I am in AMS area for a few weeks on a new project and wondering if anyone was going to be around. I will be returning the weekend of 23/24 Feb and leaving 10/11 March with a return on the 17th.

I am doing a mileage run to AMS on 3/9 so I will at the airport around 0730.

My flight back is not until 1235 so I would love to meet someone from FlyerTalk. I have never been to AMS. Do I have any time to venture out to the city?

Carl

You would have at most one hour to walk around the city, given the time-consuming security check for US-bound flights. A roundtrip by train would take about 30-40 minutes.

The trains run very frequently at that time of the day (maybe every 10 mins), so that would not be an obstacle. Just make sure you allow yourself enough time to get back for getting through check-in and security. You can buy your ticket from a vending machine and avoid the ticket windows. The Amsterdam Centraal rail station is quite a distance from the museum area, so you won't have time for those. When you exit the station, just walk straight ahead for about a half mile and you'll be at the start of the shopping district.

Another option is a quick tram tour, as there are a number of lines right outside the station.

Carl,

I might be coming back on the 9th. If our paths cross maybe we could stop by for one of those world famous beers at 7 in the morning. Send me an email and maybe we could meet up.
