well that one was MY thread..and I was asking where the members of the Community happened to be at that moment.

I agree that Ernie's question should have been posted in Technical Issues, but the lockdown could have been handled in a more productive way.

I support Ess in anything she does...as well as the other thankless moderators.

ernestb, what do you mean by this statement?

"I'expecting an apology within the next 72 hours, otherwise I will persue my options ..."

What are your options? Will you never come back? Poke your eyes out? Destroy your computer? Kill yourself? What? Please tell us...we are very interesting to see how you...a very new member to the community might pursue "options"!!

HEY GANG,

I do not like where this thread is going.

All I asked was a simple question of EssxJay to understand why certain threads were left open and others closed.

I posted publicly because I thought it would be helpful for the entire community to understand.

I do not want to see personal attacks here... and ask everyone to refraim from doing that on this thread.

I am assuming EssxJay ... as she has done in the past ... will explain her reasoning.

Thanks

William

Part of the problem here is that people seem to take the locking (or even relocating) of a thread personally. Witness the many posts in this thread.

The moderator's decision is reasonable given the original post which is, IMHO, a question concerning technical issues. Perhaps the moderator could have worded the lock post differently.

wharvey,

I don't happen to agree that FT Chat malfunctions have anything to do with FT Community threads.

Specifically, the FT Community forum is for posting get-togethers. As Rudi stated, technical issues with Flyertalk should really be addressed in the Technical Issues forum, or better yet, by direct email to the webmaster.

As for the closing of the ozstamps lives thread, that was done by Randy at 3:33 p.m. on Friday the 14th.

ernestb,

Agree to disagree that I made an error of judgement (in your opinion). However, I was not in any way abusive toward you.

to all in the FT community who I've not have the pleasure to meet,

Those FTers who've already met me and know me know that I'm pretty straightforward in my writing and speech. I think that sometimes comes off as harsh or insensitive, as JeffS and missydarlin seem to imply. But please know that I take great care to not offend anyone on FT.

Yeah, I've had my moments of bad temper with doc, ozstamps/avgas and others. But since I've become a moderator I really do my ****edest to be polite and fair.

I invite anyone who disagrees with me or my moderator activities in this forum to email me directly at [email protected].

Essxjay,

Thanks for the response... my issue was NOT that the thread in question belonged here ... even though that could be debated considering other threads that were left open... wont repeat those.

It just really confused me... when you closed the thread abruptly and did not move it to the proper place... which you seem to do with all other misappropiatly placed threads (and did not tell the poster where the thread should have been posted).

For my part, thanks for the response.

wharvey,

I really, really appreciate your reply. I guess all I can say in response is that I'm not perfectly attentive in my moderation duties as I could be. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

BTW, is West Henrietta near Rochester? I have a good friend who just graduated from UOR Med school ...

wharvey Dec 16, 2001 11:50 am

Essxjay,

YEP... a suburb of Rochester... south of the city.

essxjay: I was thinking in terms of hindsight. Hey , I live on the east coast and we prefer getting straight to the point. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Actually, I don't get any of this.

So there was no one in chat. So what?

It happens http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Not a technical issue or a chat crash - just bedtime in the US and no other countries on

Regarding West Henrietta (having stayed in several motels there at various times):

"On the Genessee"?
Not exactly... On the Thruway!
