I am still trying to figure out the logic behind posts getting locked. I see you recently locked the "Blackout" thread... which at least was slightly related to air travel... but chose NOT to close the "Don't know what to study after school" post.

Can you help me understand the logic?

Sure, William. I'm happy to explain.

First off, I take my moderation cue from the descirption of the Community forum from the top page of Flyertalk.


Specifically, it reads:

FT Community
"The official get together page for the FlyerTalk community."

I asked myself the same question about the two threads you bring up: what makes either or neither of them on topic?

In my estimation, the thread labeled "blackout effect" had nothing to do with FT get-togethers. But the thread titled Don't know what to do after school .... was marginally, if barely, relevant to the forum.

Frankly, on second thought I don't think the latter thread belongs here, and it will be locked and moved to OMNI.

BTW, my handle is essxjay, not essexjay as you put it in the title bar.

A little aside about my handle:

My initials are S and J. As I have no middle name, X was assigned as a placeholder initial for my three-letter call sign at work years ago. "essxjay" is just the phonetic spelling of "SXJ" - a strange custom in my work world.
