How did you hear about FT?

I was reading the many links of Who we are... and I began thinking about how I got here. With all of the bonus codes and promotions that I have learned about and the people I met, in the little time I have been visiting this web site, I want to hug the man who told me about it. But I don't know how to find him.
I was on a Southwest flight (which I no longer fly) and I got on the topic of layovers and delays with the gentleman sitting next to me. He mentioned this great web site that he found and how he never flys without accessing the site and finding out about any flight related information. He continued to share the benefits of this web site and one day I decided to take a look for myself. Look at me now, two months in and I am Hilton Gold, one trip away from US Silver Preferred and planning a mileage run. I've had drinks with FT's in Chicago, went to a Cards game with an FT... and all thanks to this guy named John.

So, I thought I would ask you, where did you come from? How did you hear about this glorious site?

I did a search on Google for 'Discounted Business Class' and this was one of the hits...Top 10, I do believe.

I wish I could remember . . . I am grateful to whatever/whomever is responsible! However, given the fact that I don't know anyone else who's as interested in this topic as I am, I can only conclude it was somewhere on the web.

Wish I knew. I found FT three summers ago during a slow work day and wanting info on earning DL miles. Lurked for awhile before registering in August or September.

I think I saw Randy quoted in an article on the Fodor's site. Then I found webflyer.com and played with that for a few days before I noticed this little link that said "flyertalk" and followed it through. It was as a bit like suddenly discovering alien life in the universe, i.e. I was not alone...

My work suffers! But the Miles rack on!

Honestly, I can't remember how I found it. I don't know if I saw it through Webflyer -- which I can't remember how I first found either -- or whether a friend told me about it. Anyhow, it has changed my life. Not only have I met in person some great people -- people who I flew half-way across the world with or met half-way across the world -- but I've learned ways to travel in greater comfort for less money. A big thanks to Randy. Oh, it's also allowed me to waste too much time at work!!

I THINK I stumpled onto FT via Webflyer. I remember reading some threads where people were being bumped and earning a ton of bucks for their "trouble". SO...from where ever that thread was to this. Been here a year and have learned much and beefed up my miles considerably, met some great, caring, giving people along the way.

Now that is the one problem and probably why I don't tell my boss about the site (although I'm sure he would like the site).

A co-worker was telling me how he got comped to Gold on another airline and this intrigued me so much that I searched the web on the off chance that somewhere, somehow, someone had some tips on how to do it. Danged if I didn't find FT and become instantly hooked!

I haven't met any FT'ers on flights yet, but I'm hoping that I will once I get the luggage tag.

How many of you folks sport a FT luggage tag?

While I knew of Inside Flyer, it's just a bit too long ago to remember!

I would do searches on travel to check on websites for information. Usually it was to find ways to maximize my travel money on hotels and flights. This was two and a half years ago. I started posting on HotTalk on www.trip.com and one day someone mentioned FT. I preferred FT. I have learned much more and benefited travelwise more than any other travel source.

I had been a lurker in rec.travel.air for many years until someone happened to mention FlyerTalk during the Winter of 2000. I was heading back to PDX from NYC in a few days and it just so happened that a FlyerTalk dinner had been organized in Portland for that week. So my baptism occurred shortly thereafter, where I was priveleged to meet Essxjay, MWeiss, Punki and Joe, Annas, Travelweary an Michael, Quantumleap and Marie, and Shadow and Jackie.
