So far I have been very pleased with the job performed by essxjay, his moderation has reached the exact right level (i.e. nothing).

OTOH, I've let a couple of current Community threads slide because they were at least marginally relevant to the forum and/or they were still active before I was granted moderator duties on Friday, 7/20.
BTW, I also moderate the Hilton forum. I haven't had to do much there as yet.

essxjay --
I'd just like to issue a public "THANK YOU" to you for standing behind your moderator actions instead of hiding behind a cloak of anonymity.
I find it repugnant when people aren't willing to stand up for their actions. You should be saluted for not taking the coward's way.

Well, I guess I must apologize on three counts:

For not paying close enough attention to moderation done by essxjay
For not knowing that essxjay is a she (really now, don't be unreasonable
)
For complementing the efforts of essxjay. Obviously moving threads is unacceptable and can get no approval from me
Well, maybe too harsh. My nice comments could now be that since I have not noticed the actions of essxjay they can hardly be as absurd (no logic!) as those of M1+M2.
Thanks for your vote of support, 2 Many Miles.
To be perfectly honest, when I first shot my mouth off many months back about my willingness to moderate I really didn't think Randy would take me up on the dare. <g> Oh well - here I am!
I just wish I could be as sure of my decloaked stand as you are, and in defense of my fellow moderators over on The Buzz I can only say that I've been on both sides of the moderator identity debate. It is not an easy decision if you've never moderated before, especially on a board as vocal and knowledge-rich as FT.
Please give M1 and M2 a chance to walk around in their new skin, make a few mistakes and learn from the constructive feedback.
-----
Again, 2MM I'm grateful for your kind words.

If only you'd been to the several well-attended FT events I have you'd know the truth.Of course, if you care to host something in your own hometown with a reasonable amount of advance notice methinks you'd have a helluva FT party on your hands.

Considering the number of daily posts on FT, the amount that have been "touched" by the moderators is quite small. Personally, I believe I've only moved one thread (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum1/HTML/004888.html).
Regardless of who has or hasn't moved things around (and I support M-1 and Ess' efforts without hesitation), we're in a learning phase. There was some (possibly over-eager?) activity the first couple of days of moderation, but a lull has set in. Part of the reason for this is constructive board participant comments, a lack of true published guidelines, and some technical limitations.
Bear with this fallible anonymous human being.

M1 and M2 aren't really hiding behind any cloak of secrecy:

After the tiniest bit of checking you will locate Goldlust's recent and vigorous attempt to do just THAT in Copenhagen for June/July, and all was aired here in the this very Forum with "plenty of advance notice". Your personal comments were uncalled for and wrong. I also recall reading Goldlust has attended several other large FT events this year.

Actually, while Essxjay and I agree on very little, if anything, and there are surely many times when I truly wish that she had been a bit more "temperate," I really do not believe anything untoward was stated or even implied here!

Just perhaps a minor case of "unawareness" and a resulting slip of the tongue!

Hey, who's perfect?

I stand corrected, SkyMiller. Mea culpa!

Very nicely done!
"The Flyertalk Travel Board ( http://www.flyertalk.com/travelfr.shtml )has a topic area entitled "Online Travel Booking & Bidding". This would be a good place to post your Orbitz experiences in the future.
Thanks
