I guess this best belongs in the "In the news" forum, but it is interesting you raised the subject. I visited Sri Lanka a few years back, and found it a very sad country. It is so beautiful and had such potential to be a self-sufficient gem in the Indian Ocean, and has fallen on such distressing times. When I was there, staying at the InterContinental, two major office complexes beside the hotel were being rebuilt afte their recent bombing [Bank of Ceylon and Bank of Sri Lanka buildings], and shortly thereafter, terrorists again blew up the building next to the Hlton. Very, very sad...

The news photos from the airport are a little scary from the "I was there" point of view.
Hope they solve their problems before there is nothing left to visit.
