Laundry List of THANK YOUs for well-organized and well-executed SAN FT soiree:

SanDiego1K, Capt. Mike- Bravo, standing O, extended applause for your hard work, commmitment to pull this sucker off.

George H.- for being my surrogate Rabbi

TooManyMiles- your generosity to other FTers

Arkangel- my across the dinner table acquaintance

ChanelCinq- was it AM or FM in Pareeee??

Cigarman- hope your taste in music is different than the groups you insure!

Punki- nice to see the whites of your eyes; so we both won on a 'technicality'- me with airline miles from other accounts; you with hotel points from joint/family account. Maybe this 'aggregating' points/miles will catch on with the FT masses!!

Hunki- loyal husband; hope you don't trip in the dark on tghe way down to the basement to check on Punki nightly!

Peregrine- it only occured to me AFTER I left that you are part of the Punki clan! And I can't believe I'm admitting this in public!!
I'll check out straightdope.com one of these days. Go back to college only if/when you're ready! My kids can't wait for your 'possibly could corrupt kids software program'!! Hope my 'project' is clearer to you now.

Markbach- NYC and SAN....Smile and say cheese

MRKEY- hoping for good news in Tuscon.
Cleveland Rocks!

Stockmnjr- bring a signed permission slip next time! Don't stay at a Super 8, it cramps your style.

AASweets- Go Pack. Hopefully, you can say that AT the frozen tundra of......

ClassicalGal- consider buying a Honda CRV with the insurance $$

Jan AZ- a REAL live HPer.

Tvl4Free- truce, leading to friends, leading to allies, leading to amazing cooperative opportunities

lisamcgu- I'm tellin' ya- AC AC AC AC AC

RDURES1- You are brave, and you know who is a coward

crankyusi- we've only just begun I hope!

I wish I had time to meet and spend more time with others. Again, lots yum-yums and yuk-yuks added up to a wonderful 24 hour jaunt to SD.

Hunki Jul 22, 2001 10:09 am

Kudos to the all the San Diegan FlyerTalkers for organizing a great gathering! I'm sorry that we couldn't make the Friday tour and spend more time with the group. Saturday night dinner was a great opportunity to meet a lot of new faces. It always amazes me on how each get-together is so unique. That's part of the fun of coming to them.
Punki is at the airport waiting for her upgrade back on AS. Peregrin and I are avoiding the weather problems in SFO by routing back to SEA through DEN.
Thanks again.

I am writing from the Red Carpet Club here at SAN. Although I am flying back AS, the RCC is conveniently located right by the AS gates to accomodate those of us (well at least one of us)who fly both UA and AS frequently.

I too add my thanks to all mentioned above and also to Randy et.al., for supplying the groovey new flyertalk.com priority luggage tags that mysteriously appeared at our tables at dinner.

We had a "Learn Your Local FlyerTalker" game, arranged by SanDiego1k, which forced all of us to make a serious effort to talk to everyone to find the correct answers. It was a kick and worked very well. I might try something similar for the SFO Rudi party.

The beautiful and charming Smooth just walked in the door of the RCC. This is the second time in 24 hours that I have run into her accidentally here in San Diego. She tells me that things aren't looking very good for travelers into SFO today. It is a good thing that Hunki and Peregrine rerouted their return SAN/DEN/SEA....think of the miles. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Again, it was great to see my old friends and make some new ones. Sure do love FlyerTalk parties.

p.s. Beaubo, now who else do you think that the handsome Peregrine would have for a mother? Please don't teach him too many edgy airline "techniques". http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Smooth says she slept well and will get around to posting later.

Just another thanks to SanDiego1k and CaptainMike for a wonderful time in SAN this weekend. The large amount of time and effort that you guys put in was noticed and very much appreciated!

It was fun to see some old faces and to meet many new ones! And another thanks to all the attendees for putting up with me!

Punki-

I flew SAN-SFO at 11:40 and it only left 10 minutes late. They were offering $600 vouchers for 6 people to be bumped, but I couldn't take them up on this, as I have to be at work this evening.

So many new faces and Flyer Talk handles...glad to have met you all http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Punki-
I guess that SD sun fried my gray matter that night!...and I would'nt have pegged you as a Mom of a 24 year old!!

All 'edgy techniques' are strictly PG-13, I'll keep him away from the R and XXX rated stuff, OK?!

Hey folks - I just got back to Houston after a great weekend in SAN!!! I'm sorry to have missed the airport activities on Friday afternoon, but managed to make the dinners Friday and Saturday night, and the harbor cruise on Saturday afternoon. I very much enjoyed my first FT event. I encourage all who haven't made it to one, to GO!!! We couldn't have had better organizers than SanDiego1K and Captain Mike and their helpers. BTW Beaubo, somebody here in Houston already suggested the Honda CRV as a replacement vehicle! (I lost my Civic in the Houston floods in June, for those who don't know...) Guess I better go look at it.

Thanks to all for your friendship and kindness. I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to chat with everyone. FT certainly has its share of true characters!

ChanelCinq Jul 22, 2001 9:05 pm

Thank you so much SanDiego1k and CaptainMike. You guys put a lot of effort and time into this weekend and it showed. SanDiego1k I hope you were able to break away from giving out prizes long enough to eat.

Everyone had such a fabulous time and this is another FT weekend that will go down in the history of FT gatherings.

It was nice to see some familar faces and to meet so many new faces. I met so many wonderful people that I couldn't possibly list all of them.

I am at the DL Crown Room at the moment waiting for my SAN-SFO flight on UA. I gave up my seat on my SAN-LAX-SFO flight. It was only for 200.00 but I am on a nonstop flt now.

Once again thanks for all your hard work. It was a wonderful party.

Now, who is going to the SF event in September? ;-)

So, I posted in the other thread, to realize that this is really where I should publically express my sincere thanks to our SAN organizors and all the wonderful people that I met last night at that fantastic dinner.

I must say as a newbie to the FT community, I had no idea what to expect and I definately was pleasantly surprised.

All my best to everyone and look forward to conversing and seeing you all again in the future sometime.

Channel, you bet I'll be up in SF :P

Captain Mike Jul 22, 2001 10:59 pm

Thank you for all the compliments on the SAN weekend. I know I speak for both SD1K and myself when I say it was our pleasure to organize this fun and educational gathering. We are pleased that people had such a great time meeting and exchanging travel tips. Good food, great people, and a wonderful setting all came together this weekend, and the result was tremendous.

As a follow-up to our fine time, I am sending thank you letters to James Buckles and Daris Patterson at the SAN control tower, Lesley Marples at the SAN airport, and Randy Petersen for the FT luggage tags.

Looking forward to many more enjoyable weekends together!

Captain Mike

As a SAN local, it was incredibly convenient and exciting to be able to participate in the events on Friday. Really enjoyed the tower and meeting my favorite FT'ers in person!

Thank you organizers!!!

Just made it back after my redeye into PHL this morning (with the obliquitory stop for fresh hot Krispy Kremes on the way home from the airport.) I'm going to crash right now, but I'll try to have the first round of pics up by this evening or tomorrow morning.
