A DFW (or TX) Gathering
With all of the DFW and TX members in FT, plus all of the members who fly through DFW, maybe it's time to think about a future DFW gathering, if there hasn't been one already.
Any thoughts?

I'd be very interested, especially since I'm moving to the Dallas area, probably first week of July.
Anybody know of any decent houses to rent (we have 2 dogs)?

I would love to attend a gathering as long as I'm in town that day.
Boilermaker, I moved here about three years ago, rented for about two years. Homes are a great value here compared to CA. Rents are high compared to purchase price due to high property taxes, no state income tax. email me if you want further info.

However, Dallas is a great place to live. DFW makes it easy to travel as well. Welcome aboard!
O.K. So there are two votes for early July. Anyone else? Or, should we wait and try to make this a PIP-type event for the future? Notice I'm staying away from the phrase Dallas "Do". LOL

I also agree, October is better in terms of temperature, and better for me in terms of schedule, with the exception of the week of 10/8 - 10/12. I'll be on vacation that week.
And I thought this thread was done. :-)

I'm game. I would be happy to get a PIM (Party in the Metroplex) orgainized. Having it in July or August would scare most people away but September would be great. Both the Rangers and Cowboys are in town for the weekend of September 21st-23rd. I would think one day of events in Dallas and one in Fort Worth would be ideal. We could have steak at Bobs Steak and Chop house in Dallas for one night and Tex/Mex at Joe T Garcia's in Fort Worth for the other night. We could also have an extensive tour of DFW Airport for one of the other events. Is this weekend good for everyone? I could get a website made up if there is a demand for this event.

Hi Applefan,
September is very good for me. I've never been to either place, so that would be fun for me.
Party In the Metroplex - I love it!
I think we need to link this topic to other boards, because there are many who do not visit this page. The AA board would be a great place to start, along with the CO and WN boards, since they are all TX-based. By then, we may also be in a position to set up a tour of Boeing HQ, should they move here. :-)
If there are enough people interested after the links are out there for all to see, go right ahead and set up the website.

P.S. How do you post a link to another board? My address for this page always remains:
www.flyertalk.com/boardsfr.htm
I know that that is not the correct address for this page.

Studley,
The address to get into Flyertalk and be able to get the exact page address is at:
http://www.flyertalk.com/forumcgi/Ultimate.cgi
Just bookmark this as your entry way into Flyertalk. I think once we get a set date then we can advertise this meeting on other links but be warned that cross posting is a very touchy issue within FT. What we might do is start a new thread in this forum (Flyertalk Community) to start an "Official thread" for this event. I will try to make a very basic website for the "PIM".
