Catman Do Trois Friendly Reminder
MEOW everyone! It's about one week before the Catman Do Trois Dinner payment of 65 dollars a person are due.
If you haven't mailed your payment, the clock's ticking.
Again, all money must be in my PAWS by Monday, February 26th.
Any questions, just ask.
And thanks to those who have already paid.
See ya at the DO!

Folks, I had to post this here because when trying to add this to my Catman DO Trois dinner announcement thread I got this message:
Sorry, we could not post your reply to this topic. Contact your bulletin board administrator and inform them that they may have may run out of available disk space. Their web host may be preventing them from posting new files.

I've had some fun trying to get PayPal.com to work.
Again, non US residents are at a serious disadvantage when trying to use PayPal.
But I *think* I got a payment through to Catman!
When using PayPal the following happened:-
1. People without a US checking account MUST use a credit card to initally send funds.
2. Only Visa is currently accepted.
3. Catman does NOT want you to pay with a credit card. But I wondered about a DEBIT card?
4. It took 6 days (4 business days + a weekend) for the PayPal 'PIN' so appear in my on-line Visa debit card account.
5. When I then tried sending the USD65 to Catman, I was told that he had already had reached his USD100/month CREDIT card limit.
6. I then tried opening another account in order to send USD65 to me (still having the USD100/month available)and then send that USD65 on to Catman. But that couldn't be done because I'd need a second Visa card. PayPal only allows one account per card.
7. So I had to reject the USD65 back to my first account.
8. The USD65 then seemed to look like cash, so I sent that to Catman.
9. The result was:
Payment Sent
Transaction ID: ******************
Name: Mark Blanchard (The recipient of this payment is Verified)
Email: [email protected]
Date: Feb 20, 2001
Subject: Dinner Payment
Note: Hopefully this one looks like cash.
Amount: -65.00
Verified Shipping Address: None
Source of Funds: Non Credit Card
I sure hope this worked!!

Ooops.
Forgot to mail it prior to going to ams - but will send it tonight after I get home from work. Will even go to the only post office in town that takes and processes late mail.

Thanks Austman .. I need to go thru the whole deal above when I get a VISA statement with this 4 digit code on it. And need to do it for 3 lots of $65 and only have one VISA card, and was not aware of the $100 limit. Not having a $US checking account makes life 'interesting'.

Well this PayPal deal has beaten me, and the $195 for Kempis, Joh and myself can't get past this apparent $100 upper limit that was not raised in the original email - I can bet PayPal do not mention that aspect to those like Catman signing to accept it! Have had a USA friend post a check express mail for the money Catman, sorry for the hassle. That leaves a $100 PayPal late 'window' for someone else I hope!

I hope that Catman gives 'a grace period' for all 'overseas' visitors checks to show in his snail-mail-box. I also tried PayPal and failed to make a deal in the time window allowed by Catman. But my 'little sister' helped me out and I got in the meantijme my confirmation from Catman saying 'payment received'.

ozstamps, I initially could not send the USD65 via PayPal either due to Catman's $100/month limit. He did tell me about that but I wondered if debit cards would work as they are more like cash. Anyway to get around the limit, I sent USD65 to another e-mail address of mine. I then rejected the payment. When the USD65 returned, it was added to my funds. When I then sent it, from my funds, to Catman it appeared to work!
But Catman has not confirmed this, so I'm a bit worried.
It IS a lot harder for us in other countries. Even the mail (eg from Australia) can take well over a week to get to places in the USA.

Ooops. Forgot to mail it prior to going to ams - but will send it tonight after I get home from work. Will even go to the only post office in town that takes and processes late mail.
2/21 On the way home from work my car breaks down on the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge. At the exact same spot as 8 days prior. Spent $900 having it fixed that time. So after a couple of hours finally get it towed back to the shop which did the original repair. Don't make it to Post Office.
2/22 Take blank check to work but forget to take Catman's address. This is getting even better. Later in the day start to feel weak and stuffed up. Pick up wife at work - go get car at auto repair (blown fuse to fuel pump $1.95 + labor) and barely make it home and crash in bed without even eating or watching Survivor. Probably have pnuemonia from being stranded on the bridge in the wind and rain.
2/23 Don't go to work. Finally in the afternoon drag myself up out of bed and put a lot of warm clothes on and drive myself to the Post Office to send the check Express Mail. Get there only 25 minutes before the last delivery of Express Mail for the day and I am not sure if I would have had the energy to drive across town to other PO which has later pickup. Will it get better.
2/24 10am After being in bed almost 40 hours except the trip to the PO my wife wakes me up to inform me that the roof is leaking. We just had a new roof put on this past summer. I roll over and tell her to call the person who did the roof. Eventually the guy gets out here fixes the problem.
Will it get better. Mail arrives and I recieve my first receipt that my express mail has posted.
Now I wait with anticipation to see if Catman recieves it on Monday.

Magic111. Now THAT is quite some "check' in the mail" tale! Thanks for your perseverance Catman, nice to hear the Fedex prevailed over PayPal in the end!
