Turns out there was a good side to this event - immediately after spewing emails to several hundred contacts, I sent another "Don't open the previous email" blast email ... I heard from a lot of folks I haven't talked w/ in ages and had fun catching you-know-what from old friends today

Have absolutely no idea if this is kosher or not, but in today's email. Seeing the magic word UPGRADE is in heading, thought I better pass it on, for what its worth.
IF YOU RECEIVE AN E-MAIL THAT READS "UPGRADE INTERNET2" DO NOT OPEN IT, AS IT CONTAINS AN EXECUTABLE NAMED "PERRIN.EXE." IT WILL ERASE ALL THE DATA IN YOUR HARD DRIVE AND IT WILL STAY IN MEMORY EVERY TIME THAT YOU UPLOAD ANY DATA, IT WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY ERASED AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO USE YOUR COMPUTER AGAIN. THIS INFORMATION WAS PUBLISHED YESTERDAY IN THE CNN WEB SITE.

Before passing "virus reports" on, might I suggest we all check http://www.snopes.com or http://vil.mcafee.com/hoax.asp?
