Anyone heard from MRKEY?

I certainly don't mean to start a panic, but I know MRKEY going to India for most of January http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum1/HTML/003887.html. Has anyone heard from him since the terrible earthquake there? Did anyone have his itinerary?

svpii .. He has kindly added some of us on a regular travel email for this trip, along with itinerary etc. I am sure he'll update his exploits soon, as yes he was in that part of the world. He is scheduled to fly out of Mumbai Feb 12th on CX to HKG. I think Stuart thrives on this adventure travel stuff. This below was his last update from Goa a week back. He emailed me privately to say he was planning to be in Nepal for 1.5 weeks after GOA, so that is where he is now I imagine.:

Just a quick note to let everybody know I am OK and at Vagador Beach, Goa on my way in a few days, across the center of India, up the East coast of India along the Bay of Bengal towards the Ganges River into Nepal .. things are so fantastic here ... I am composing my trip reports and will keep you posted! From the land of the giant prawns and coconut groves .... Stuart

svpii - I get the feeling Stuart is a real travel "survivor". Anyone flying off to the northern jungles of Thailand to do the "Baht Pass" run needed to be! I just about bet he jumped into the Ganges this week along with that enormous crowd of 15-20 million Indians for that big religious occasion. About the population of Australia right there.

mrkey's trip took him to Goa which was undamaged by the quake. based on my last conversation with him he was not planning to venture near where the quake took place.

ahmedabad is actually my parents home so i've ben in touch with people there. my brother's was there when it happened and he said most of the damage has come from collapsed buildings built during the last few years - ALL of which have been under suspicion of poor construction quality for quite some time now. unfortunately only a tragedy like this will open the eyes of the authorities

Indogulf, I'm so sorry to hear you have family from the region, but equally glad to hear it sounds as if they avoided harm. Thanks for the extra info regarding MRKEY!

?

We were getting almost daily reports before this quake, and there are lots of cyber cafes in the region that he used often to post to FT during the "Baht Pass" run etc. Nothing for 2-3 weeks now. Or posts on the boards that I have seen - anyone else seen or heard from the Footloose Floridian??

Now I find this thread. MrKey is fine, he's in Hong Kong taking a bath at the Wing for CX. He says thanks to all who were wondering how he was. And his sense of humor is still the same.

"I couldn't find the thread which asked if anyone had heard from MrKey since we had last heard from him while he was in quake-struck India. He's been emailing from The Wing at CX in Hong Kong, seriously talking about taking his first bath in about one month. True to form, he's trying to decide where his next trip should be. He did say thanks to those who did care\wonder how he was given his absence in posting."
