Netscape 6.0

Sorry for posting this here, but Im not getting any feedback in the Tech. problems forum.

Im having problems with real time posts (again) - having to manually refresh after posting replies...

Ive searched old threads and used just about every trick there and still no luck. Im wondering if I should upgrade Netscape 4.61 to version 6.0 - anybody out there using this new version...?

Thanks,

I would suggest 4.76 ... it contains a lot of bug fixes relative to 4.61, but retains the look and feel you're used to. Next, if you're still having problems, check your cache and proxy settings.

I have no proxy settings (direct connection to internet), and have followed all the advice on how to set the cache options. Ive even flushed out the cookies, memory and disk caches various times but still cant get this fixed.....

6.0 still has some problems (Java, Flash) with some sites. I uninstalled and will wait for 6.0x to get these fixed.

CNET has some comments about Netscape 6.0... they dropped their initial 7 rating down to a 4 now. I got a link from them in e-mail today with a new review.

"When it debuted in November, CNET editors gave Netscape's new browser a pretty darned good review: a 7 on a scale of 1 to 10.
Find out why they decided to take another look at the controversial new browser, and get a load of Netscape 6's score this time around."

I use it sometimes as well as mozilla 0.7
(most of the time NS 4.76 so), except for the PSM it works well for me.

I installed Netscape 6.
The product contains several bugs, does not work correctly with Java.
After two days I deinstalled it, since I was not able to use my favorite sites correctly (internet banking, brokerage, InfoFlyway...).

If you are referring to comhome about internet banking look at http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=57640
there is how to fix it, actually it is a
server not a client error:-)

Netscape 4.75 on Windows ME works fine for me. But the older versions worked too. It must be something in your local config or with one of your other apps. Have you tried reinstalling Windows, then installing Netscape before you add any other apps?

Then add your apps one by one to see which one is causing the problem.
