Hey, All,
Sorry we couldn't hook up with you this time, Gone Again, but Mrs. Kid and I enjoyed meeting our FT neighbor (finally). Surprised to meet a flyer who doesn't like to fly!
Looking forward to next week's NRT get together. -mjm: Gimme a ring so's we can figure out the Saturday plan.
Anyone hoping to sneaking a peek at Freddie Jr., Nikko's Narita Winds on 12/1 is the place to be!

Sorry for the self-promotion of fwd'ing my own thread, but wanted to thank AusTXHiker and bbinchi for flying over/out to NRT this weekend. Was great to meet local mjm (finally) as well, and hopefully Ruth, mjm & the Kids can get together in the new year.
AusTX- A truly commendable effort to give Freddie Jr. the quick tour of one small part of this huge city. -A 2 hour commute each way for 3 hours of schleppin' around. Hope it was worth it!
And finally, there is still a bit of open memory in my computer, so feel free to e-mail me your info if you want to be included in my list of "locals."
-KidHost (thanks again to mjm - I will let you know how the NC20 headphones work this month. $90 seems a bargain based on my home testing - maybe I should export these!)

"KidHost":
I'm embarrassed that you beat me to the punch, as I should have been the one to forward this thread with my heartfelt thanks to you and "Mrs. Kid" for the wonderful job of hosting this weekend. Unfortunately, the NRT Admirals Club did not offer PCs so I could not get on the Internet until now (got home about 90 minutes ago).
Let me publicly thank you and "Mrs. Kid", and "mjm", for a wonderful time in Tokyo. I am truly touched by your gracious hospitality and the many kindnesses shown during my brief visit. I had a great time and so enjoyed our excellent sushi lunch and, later, our dinner. The sightseeing, the logistics planning, the translating...you really went over and above what anyone should expect from someone they have never met. But I guess that's what the FlyerTalk community spirit is all about!
Thanks go to "AusTXHiker" as well for allowing me to tag along and be a part of his Friday night that had already been arranged with "the Kids." And it was great to meet Freddie Jr. as well!
I am eager to return the favor with each of you someday here in Chicago, so let me know when you can visit.
As for the Sony NC-20s...very impressive. They don't seal off the ears as well as the Bose noise canceling headphones offered in AA's Business Class, but the NC-20s seem to reproduce a broader spectrum of the music without the bass frequencies being diminished and with no loss of musical fidelity as seemed to be the case with the Bose. Definitely worth it (especially at that price!)...many thanks to you, "mjm", for encouraging me to try them.
Bye for now; my bed is calling me...
Bill

I will be returning to England to study (YUK!) and I have an overnight transit in NRT on 6JAN.
I was wondering if anyone from Tokyo will be around then, to meet and (maybe) show me around (if you have time).
It'll be my first time alone in Tokyo, free to do whatever I want (until about 8pm when I will return to the hotel near Narita).
So... anyone?

stargold,
Sorry, but I've gotta work 1/6.
Hope you get a guide, but unless you are AusTXHiker, it is difficult to get into the city for just a few hours.
Good luck!
-A happy KP, as an ORD-NRT upgrade is looking to work out. (Knock on fake AA Club wood.)
