wanderlust's, Catman's and Rudi's lunch on Saturday dec-16-2000
Restaurant Adler, Weil am Rhein, Baden-Wrttemberg (at the foot of the Black-forest), Germany: 7,5 km from the Swiss boarder (Basel, Ble), 3 km from the french boarder (direction Mlhouse)
one of my long time favorites (I worked and lived in Basel from 1974 to 1984) for an ideal combination of traditional southern-german (Black Forest = Schwarzwald) grandmother-style cooking and trends of the nearby alsatian/french-nouvelle cuisine (the french/alsatian- and the swiss-boarders are just car-minutes away).
* local White (a perfect, very dry Baden-Wrttemberg-'Chardonnay') and a local Red (Weiler 'Schipfe' from the producer next door to the 'Adler').
* Hand-made noodles with White-truffels (from Alba, North of Torino, Italy)
* Black-forest venison with home-made-Spaetzle
Adler (first mentioned in 1572)
owned and 'run' by the 'Woehrle' family for generations
1* Michelin (= 'a very good restaurant in its category')
Hauptstrasse 139
D-79576 Weil am Rhein
Germany
Tf + (0049)-(0)7621-98230
closed: Sunday and Monday, also closed holidays: jan-1 to 15 and aug-1 to 15

But I am comfy in the MX domestic lounge in MEX right now, waiting for my flight to Puerto Vallarta (unfortunately for only a half hour stopover on my way from Calgary to Toronto).

I'll be waiting for your trip report Catman, as I will be making my first trip to Zurich/Lucerne in late March. Alas, it it the same time as the FlyerTalk get together in March in NYC!
