An OMNI Award Presentation in Long Beach

I know I should post this under "Trip Reports" but I want the entire Flyertalk community to share in it.

Thanks to some schedule jugging, I was able to get to Long Beacha nd suggested to Kyklin and Afraid of KGB "let's have a LIVE OMNI AWARD Presentation to Jailer and Mr. Lion."

PremEx and Burkey worked on finding a fun place worthy of an OMNI award presentation. SO they picked MUM's Restaurant in Long Beach -- a great place and what a terrific town! Thanks guys!

So the award winning Jailer with his cousin Craig, kyklin and Afraid of KGB, Holly, Newself, Mr. Limo, PremEx, Burkey, AusTxHiker, Quantum Leap and MIAU-Self went to MUM's for the big show.

Mr. Lion and Hunnybear were still in Vegas but were there "live" via my cell phone.

Ken passed the OMNI prize; absolutely heavenly Swiss Chocolates from OMNI CO-Committee Chair RUDI! to give to Jailer while I gave a rambling speech thanking him and QUiet Lion (via cell phone) on their contributions to Flyertalk.

Quiet Lion thanked everyone for supporting his trip reports. Jailer was stunned and very happy and also send thanks and, being the true gentleman he is, shared his prize with everyone.

Lion: I guess Ken will do another OMNI award ceremony when you and Hunnybear get back. Rudi: I am passing on the speaking duties to Ken for that presentation, OK?

The evening was capped by AusTxHiker passing on Freddie Jr. with his new special Luggage Tag on to Me to take to Switzerland for my 1K mileage run with wanderlust!

This is what makes Flyertalk fun: the get togethers, the laughs, the memories, the chocolate!

Congratulations Jailer and QUiet Lion and thanks everyone for another fun event!

We were partying just down the street (#5) in San Diego. Glad you all had a good time.

Sounds very cool. I had the pleasure to hook up with AusTxHiker in Tokyo a day ago and that was terrific. He "Hiked" all the way into town for a few hours and introduced us (Mr. and Mrs. Kidpachinko, Bbinchi, and me to Freddie Jr. then also. Pictures to be up soon.

Great way to kick off the holiday season for all it sounds like.

I was reading the post regarding the OMNI Award presentation so I could attend but I guess I missed that post.

I was sitting at home alone that evening.

Oh well maybe next time.

I bumped into Quantumleap in the RCC at LAX in the morning on my way back from Seoul. Jeez if I would have known I would have stuck around for this prestigious occasion. Kudo's to the deserving winners, just goes to prove what a few good people do for the board. (Enough said)
