Help needed with fare class mystery

This has probably been raised somewhere before so treat me gently.

I have been lurking for some time and have finally decided to emerge now that I am on the verge of achieving SM status with an AF flight to Washington on the 9th December. (As an aside - will I be able to use Medallion check in coming back from Washington by AF on the Sunday?)

Anyway, my question is this:

I have read that all fares internally apart from L fares are upgradable. I have just booked a trip for next August LGW-HNL via ATL and LAX. The fare has been booked in Q which is not upgradable internationally but appears to be upgradable internally.

What are my chances of being able to upgrade the internal segments of an international ticket issued completely in Q. It would be great to be able to find a way to upgrade some of this itinerary since particularly on te way back there are two red-eye segments over 2 nights to get back to LGW.

Thanks for helping!

Welcome.

This Forum is really for GENERAL matters, and mainly for meetings and FT functions etc. What you will find far more useful is to direct that question to the airline Forum board of whichever airline you are flying, which I assume to be either Air France or Delta? Both have boards, and DL especially has a lot of regular users who know the fare rules and codes backwards.

If you go down to the "Hop To" table below, both boards will open up. Good luck! You can simply cut and paste your post by clcking on the small paper/pencil icon on your first post.

Best of luck .. you worded it very well, and quite precisely, so feel sure there will be some helpful answers from the DL FT'ers!

Just went and peeked at DL board and he/she above got some very helpful answers it looks like. Nice. Boy, when you read about rules of a plan you do not use yourself it is like another language. Interesting!
