Would that I could, essxjay. Suggested venues follow by e-mail.

BTW, are you also interested in sightseeing in and around Mnchen? Castles, museums?

Thanks Counsellor! I hoped you'd chime in since I know of your penchant for MUC.

Yes, I plan to do a little sightseeing of everything: castles, beerhalls, etc. I'm also planning to spend a day in Nuremberg to check out the Xmas market, the courthouse where the War Tribunal was held and of course sample the local sausages. I might also go to Dachau time permitting.

Munich has a nice Christmas market in the Marienplatz....just off Marienplatz don't miss a visit to Dahlmeier, a world class deli and more. Their coffee makes a great Christmas gift, as does just everything else they have. There should be great advent music available the weekend of Dec. 2-3. The Gastieg concert hall has been doing Bach's Christmas oratorio last few years.

An interesting brewery tour if you can book it is Weihenstephan, the world's oldest existing brewery. Good beer as well. Paulaner brewery has a fairly good restaurant... but I am sure Cousnelor will have told you all this and more.

If you go to Dachau, go to the Dachau old city as well. It is a very old artists' village. If you go to the brewery in Dachau you can eat in a very cozy pub featuring Ludwig Thoma beer, which may be the world's best.

Enjoy.

essxjay,
welcome to Munich. As far as it looks right now I'll be there.
