A tribute to my FT friends
I had a chance to win 400 Greenpoints (!) for entering an original poem on poetry.com - thought I'd share this cheesy moment I had yesterday with all of you!
As posted on "SPAM":
Risk and Reward
Enter a metal tube commonly known as aircraft
Risk getting a middle seat in row 125 and having no feeling in your feet by Atlanta
Risk communicable disease from the person in the row behind you
Risk a child in front of you throwing up over the back of his seat - into your lap
Risk missing an important call from a client you've pursued for a year while you're in the tube
Risk getting angry at callous staff who can't find your reservation
Risk being the recipient of anger from jealous passengers who didn't get the last upgrade
Risk spending five hours with the most verbal and most boring person on the planet
Risk your life
Enter a website devoted to those sharing your pain
Reward yourself with new lessons in beating the game
Reward yourself with new friends who share your world
Reward yourself with finding every place known to earn more frequent flier miles
Reward yourself with getting upgraded on every flight you take
Reward yourself with getting a suite at the hotel - with a smile
Reward yourself with free Bailey's with your coffee
Reward yourself with learning the best hotels, the best restaurants, the best routes to anywhere
Reward yourself with a forum and a chatroom full of intelligent, fun people you feel lucky to know!
Enter a mental state filled with awareness that of strife can come triumph, of pain can come pleasure, of loneliness can come community.

Are you kidding? I got 400 Greepoints ! And I think the current value of same is worth at least a pack of gum! However, I have been convinced, after much internal debate, that perhaps I shouldn't abandon my day job.
