Punki,

Let me be the first to congratulate you on a job well done! I'm looking forward to seeing you, everyone who attended the party last year and all of the new faces I have yet to meet.

I have volunteered to transport three people from a hotel to Chinooks on Saturday night. Let me know who/where... thanks!

All I would need is SOMEONE to get me from my hotel The W Hotel on Fourth Street? to Chinooks, otherwise I'll take a cab. Please let me know if it's within walking/Cabbing distance.

Looking forward to it.

Just hope my flights from my secret trip are on time!!!!

smooth Sep 18, 2000 12:09 pm

Would anybody be kind enough to pick me up at the Westin for dinner at Chinooks? Shadow is staying there as well, maybe he would need a ride too.

Punki Sep 18, 2000 12:22 pm

Smooth,I making a list of who is staying where, and then I will arrange car logical carpools.

High Life Sep 18, 2000 5:50 pm

Hi Punki:

What a fantastic weekend you have planned. I will be able to make all scheduled events other than the Boeing Tour http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif. I am really looking forward to seeing you again and meeting all the great people you told me about. That flight we shared will end up being my best ever! I have a large SUV and would be glad to help with rides to from Airport or in town. Let me know if I can be of help. Looking forward to it. High Life

Catman Sep 18, 2000 6:29 pm

Punki and company, if you got one more seat at Angelo's then count me in (flight on UA and traffic depending.)

I should make it by 1pm. So send positive cat vibes that all my flights are ok.

Thanks and see ya in about 2 wks! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

essxjay Sep 18, 2000 8:12 pm

Update on the pub roll, er, pub crawl portion of our weekend.

For the sake of convenience, let's have our kick-off pint at The Pike Pub and Brewery, mere steps from the famous Pike Place Market and a few blocks from Wild Ginger. Click the location link if you need directions, and the beers link for a detailed suds list. Plan to meet around 9:30-ish for the first round and we'll take it from there.

Prosit!

hedoman Sep 18, 2000 9:59 pm

Punki,

Will be there for dinner Saturday. Sounds like a great choice.

Jailer Sep 19, 2000 9:57 am

Punki and Joe, you have put together an Olympic proportioned venue of fun in Seattle. Sorry for not RSVPing sooner. Joanne and I are definite for dinner at Chinooks.

I’m staying back and forth between the downtown Madison Marriott and my brother-in-law’s in Magnolia. I’m up all week, and I still have the Metropolitan Grill twitch, so if any locals want to try Tuesday or Wednesday, please post or email me.

Joanne and the baby (Abigail Sophia) are coming up Thursday, and as babysitting is only confirmed on Saturday night, I’m little up in the air about the other Gold Medal events. I’d very much like to go sailing if there’s room, but will play it by ear. I’ve heard people rave about the Wild Ginger, so that should be great. I want to hitch my wagon for at least one leg of the pub crawl, so probably will connect at Pike's Market with y'all.

Again, Punki and Joe, thanks for playing host committee and for all this work and planning. Barry.

kyklin Sep 21, 2000 5:54 pm

Yes, much thanks to Punki and Joe for making this happen (dinner for almost 30 people!).

Is there a party central hotel at SEA? We will be staying at the Westin.

Catman Sep 21, 2000 6:02 pm

Again, bearing flight delays I am going to lunch at Anthony's so please please please add me to the lunch list!!!

cant' promise but I might try to make the afternoon sail (if only to get a picture of Newself helping me on the boat!)

TropicalFlyer Sep 22, 2000 1:40 am

I'm at the Westin too. I'll need a ride to the Boeing tour and dinner at Chinook's. I'm getting excited about seeing everyone again!

MileageAddict Sep 22, 2000 11:24 am

Punki,

Have you organized a list so I know who and where to pick up for dinner on Saturday?

smooth Sep 22, 2000 1:06 pm

It sounds like quite a few of us are staying at the Westin: TropicalFlyer, Shadow, Kyklin, myself. Anybody else? What time is everybody going to check in and out? Should we all ask to be on the same floor so we can make it our party headquarters?

essxjay Sep 22, 2000 1:36 pm

I'm thinking Punki's boat might be The party central. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif Newself practically has the wetbar configured ... !!!

EPS Sep 22, 2000 3:14 pm

This may interest some of you.

The Hilton Seattle is offering a $129/night special.
http://www.hilton.com/hotels/SEASHHF/specials.html

This beats the Westin's "Hot Rates" ($150-$191).

kyklin Sep 22, 2000 5:57 pm

Hotel list:

W
Catman, Jailer (only until Thursday)

Westin
Kyklin and Danielle, Shawdow, smooth, TropicalFlyer, dgolds

Renaissance Madison
TravelWeary

Hilton
Scott the Flier, Punki (1 night)

Boat people
newself and essxjay

Any errors or ommissions? Let me know at [email protected] !

shadow Sep 22, 2000 7:07 pm

Ken...make that shadow only, Jackie cannot make it this trip.

To anyone who is interested, my DL flight arrives in SEA at 3:48pm, barring any delays.
If no one else is coming in around that same time, I'll get myself to the Westin. Should be there between 4:30-5:00pm.

[This message has been edited by shadow (edited 09-22-2000).]

Jailer Sep 22, 2000 9:30 pm

Actually, I'm staying at the W thru Thursday, and then over to my brother-in-law's over in Magnolia. Joanne arrives Thursday.

dgolds Sep 22, 2000 10:35 pm

Count me in! I just booked my flights and a hotel for Saturday night.

I couldn't resist the chance to finally meet Newself (who owes me one - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum20/HTML/000794.html - and Shadow, Tropical Flyer, Kyklin (and Michelle) and MileageAddict after all these months of reading their posts. It will be great to see so many dear friends, and meet some great new folks, too.

I decided to rent a car. I'm arriving on AS at 2:15 PM Saturday, departing at 1:30 PM Sunday. If anyone needs a ride to downtown Seattle from SeaTac or the return, and your times are close to mine, please let me know via e-mail.

Counsellor Sep 23, 2000 1:42 am

What a great get-together! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/cool.gif I'm really sorry I can't attend (and after being pulled off of the SFO gathering, too).

I feel soooooooo sad!

lionclaw_98004 Sep 23, 2000 11:08 am

Punki,
I'm a new member and work downtown Seattle. Please let me know if I can be of assistance with car pooling etc. I'm hoping to make the Wild Ginger.

OK, newself owes you one, I owe newself one, let's cut out the middle man (or, woman), and I'll buy you a drink! Ooooohhh, I can hear newself complaining now!) http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

dgolds Sep 23, 2000 11:59 am

And of course, it just so happens that I owe TravelWeary one, too...now we have an infinite loop going. Could make for a fun time!

[This message has been edited by dgolds (edited 09-23-2000).]

essxjay Sep 23, 2000 6:52 pm

Just make this weekend a bona fide FT gathering, I propose we have a swap meet for soon-to-expire upgrades, discount certs, hotel and rental certs, drink chits, lounge passes. For example, I have two UA confirmable upgrades that expire within six weeks and would love to trade them for ones that expire later in the year. Anyone else up for this?

shadow Sep 23, 2000 9:22 pm

dgolds, glad to hear you'll be joining us. Looking forward to finally meeting you. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

essxjay, sounds like a plan! I'll bring my envelope of goodies...

Punki Sep 23, 2000 9:26 pm

Way cool idea Ess. I even believe we should trade same expiration date coupons, just to keep them on their toes. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Punki writes from SFO.

newself Sep 24, 2000 8:49 am

Did I hear someone say drinks? DGolds, who owes who? Just imagine that we have to go all the way to Seattle to finally meet. But it will be worth it as TravelWeary has this unlimited drink budget for the both of us!

[This message has been edited by newself (edited 09-24-2000).]

Catman Sep 24, 2000 5:11 pm

Hey acting Commander Catcop? Do I owe you drinks or do you owe me??/

I think I nominate myself to be your designated walker Saturday after every pays you back in beer. For Friday, I guess someone can take that job since i"ll be on my BIG SECRET TRIP!!! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

SEE you all in six days!

newself Sep 24, 2000 8:36 pm

Catman, if I figured it out right, you owe me a whole bar! TravelWeary owes me for the US Air Club pass and dgolds owes me just because he is from NoCal. Other than that, it should be just another quiet weekend in Seattle. But I do owe Shadow a few so maybe Seattle won't be the same after the FlyerTalk group gets done with it!

Catman Sep 25, 2000 6:41 am

Newself, if I owe you a bar... then you'll get it.

But you'll have to come to Vegas to run it:
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum...ML/000152.html

A classic thread from some time ago.

FYI: the place is still vacant so we can all leave our positions and go there and have fun.

When I have time I'll expand the staff.

But one more necessity: When comicwoman is on tour... the featured entertainment in the "kit Kit Lounge" is...

Catman does his greatest hits, ending with "I will Survive!"

FFAddict Sep 25, 2000 7:04 pm

I'm unable to make the party 9/29/00 in Seattle.I hope to meet all of you somewhere in the near future.

Scott the flier Sep 26, 2000 1:53 pm

Sadly I just recieved the news that my father has passed away (brain tumor). So I will be driving up to Bellingham Saturday morning for the memorial services. I will be back for dinner at Chinooks but will miss the sailing etc. Punki could you get me the address for Chinooks via e-mail in case I need to come direct from Bellingham. This wasn't a real shock as he had been getting progressively worse in the last few weeks and the family was prepared for it. Luckily I am in the area with my friends for the weekend so it works out both ways I guess.

doc Sep 26, 2000 1:57 pm

Condolences to you and the family Scott.

I too have had a similar experience. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

PremEx Sep 26, 2000 2:04 pm

Scott...So sorry to hear the sad news about your father. Please accept my deepest sympathy at the loss to you and your family.

shadow Sep 26, 2000 3:24 pm

Scott, Jackie & I offer our condolences to you and your family.

Warrenlm Sep 26, 2000 4:10 pm

Please accept my sympathy and empathy, also, Scott. No matter how well prepared I thought I was, it was nonetheless a very difficult time. Don’t hesitate to talk with others about it this weekend.

Scott the flier Sep 26, 2000 4:44 pm

Thanks everyone as always FTer's come through for each other. I will toast his memory with friends and loved ones.

dgolds Sep 26, 2000 5:36 pm

Scott, please accept my sympathies, too.
