Hello pwpep and welcome to FT!
Ah, Aruba. What a great place for a honeymoon! Have been a few times. While I always stay at LaCabana Beach Resort on timeshare exchanges I visit all of the nicer establishments. If you guys are divers, make sure to do at least one day of diving. The night dives on the freighter wreck are awesome.
I would only "explore" the island by car one day. You will probably be "invited" to attend a Marriott timeshare presentation and they always offer, as one option, a free day of car or jeep rental. Take the jeep and enjoy!
You will be offered ten thousand timeshare opportunities. Captain Mike, I think Aruba long ago surpassed Hawaii as the timeshare capital of the world. Maybe not in number of resorts/rooms, but in sales activity. If you feel the need to attend, don't buy on the spot (you will be in a state of awe and bliss, especially since it's your honeymoon). Don't do too many, but you can choose the ones that feed you and have more to offer.
The casino at LaCabana used to be the largest on the island. Don't know if it still is. They have a showroom and we DO enjoy the shows there. If you preview LaCabana they will feed you, give you casino money and free show tix. Not a bad deal.
Don't go downtown on cruise ship days. The prices are higher and the crowds are tough. Do visit downtown a few times at different periods in the day and night. It is an interesting place. The mix of the Dutch influence with the Island Culture is cool.
Can't remember the name of the restaurant, but there is a very nice local place that I like to do for dinner. It's in an old house just out of town in the foothills. Wish I could remember the name, but you'll find out about it if you ask a taxi driver.
Have a great trip, be careful in the sun, don't worry about the wind as it keeps things tropical and bon dia!
