Hello FlyerTalk!
Hi everyone! I’m a new FlyerTalk member coming from HotTalk over at Trip.com where I have been an active member for over 8 months. Now I’m looking outside of the box and joining other HT’ers here at FlyerTalk. No, I am not leaving HotTalk.
I hope everyone here is as friendly and as knoloagable about travel as they are over at HT.
It looks like this board is much different and I was wondering if anyone could give me the low down on everything about FlyerTalk? Any help and or tips would be greatly appreciated.
Now, let me fill you in a little about myself. I am not a well-traveled person; however, I do take frequent trips. I live in the Philadelphia with friends and colleagues. I am a web and webmaster and fairly good with computers. With the help of those at HotTalk I have helped to create an aviation picture site, named Internet Aviation Picture DataBase (IAPDB) for short. So if that ever comes up in a reply you’ll know what I’m talking about.
Thanks for reading my post and I hope to get to know you all here!

onic: welcome to Flyertalk
. I'm right down the road from you in DE. Keep you eyes open in this board, as we have get-togethers all around the area, they are pretty neat to put a face with all these names.

welcome onic. You might also consider posting your bio in the Who We All Are thread, where you'll also learn about all of us FF lunatics. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum95/HTML/000470.html
If the information there interests you, check out this thread for information on how to get a file containing all of our WWAA info.

You asked for tips. Tips on using FT? Or mileage earnings tips?
For the latter, just lurk around the forum of your choice (United, Continental, or whatever) and you'll very quickly see some tips.
And actually, that would be my answer to the first question as well. As I'm sure you're aware from other Internet boards, lurking and observing are often the best way to get a pulse on a new place. And if you have something to add, jump right in.
Enjoy!

Welcome! I'm relatively new myself, so probably not the designee to characterize the site - but my emphasis would be on the people, the comraderie, and the information - in that order. I learn tangible, very useful things every day from these guys. But I also have a sense of real kinship. On the road in a lonely hotel room - I need the latter more than the former... and I get it.
Again -welcome!

As one who has meandered through Hot Talk, I can tell you that the percent of nut cases is very much lower here. Since you have to have a password to comment, no one steals your ID and makes trouble. And weird little kids like Jason (that WAS his name???) don't seem to hang around either. I just love this board. Everyone is extremely helpful and the get togethers are great fun, esp the PIP. Check out the site and see what a fabulous time we all had - emasks removed! Coupon Connection is another winner. Some top travel industry moguls peruse this board too so we have a certain amount of clout. And Randy is COOL and he is really ours, not just borrowed! Welcome.

Welcome Onic.
What is the link to your aviation picture data base site you mention. I'd be interested to see that.
