smilies

Some Flyertalk colleagues question the sense/nonsense of just answering, from time to time, with a smilie. In my judgement, if not overused, (just) a smilie shows the posting people above that you follow/agree/disagree, in short that you care, you show interest in the trip report above, you did read the above posting, etc.

I prefer a smilie, even a red one http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif, compared with 0 feedback to my postings. How about you?

And I have an egoistic advantage, when I answer with a smilie, I do it often at times the majority of Flyer Talkers are still not online and when they start 'lurking' they will open the original message and my smilie just once (together).

Rudi -- I appreciate that smilies can sometimes convey exactly what you'd like to put into words: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/eek.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/rolleyes.gif ! But, like you, I also enjoy http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif at least a smilie rather than a non-response http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif . They're validation of a thought, or appreciation of something you've put time and effort into... So, as for me, I'm with you! I like 'em! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/cool.gif

And also, if one has nothing nice to say, they can always just say nothing - like my mom always told me! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

My favorite is #2. Somehow I think that those with European keyboard might have a lot more fun with this. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif
