Philly mid-week, in next month

As a follow up to the "Cheese steak war" thread in OMNI... some of us locals are thinking of doing a mid-week get-together for drinks, cheese steaks or what ever. As for meeting times, every fourth night starting with tomorrow, Wed 8/9 I'm unavailable, as I'm on call. So I'll let others suggest the dates/places. (Center city, Manayunk, etc...)

Mid-weeks are absolutely out for me under any circumstances. I cannot take time off from work for any out of town events unless it's an absolutely good reason.

So have fun and if you plan a weekend let me know.

Before 8/26 would be preferred, after that my schedules gets really hectic, but I could still probably take the R2 in Philly and meet you guys somewhere. Count me in as interested, depending on date.

Catman: You could take the 5:00 train (sorry, no FF miles, but maybe we could bribe you with UA or AA certs )down to Philly, eat cheesesteaks with us and still be back by 11:00 for work.

I should be available any day as long as I can get two or three days advance notice.

chexfan is in. With the exception of next weekend (8/19-20) I am available to do whatever, whenever. Just a day or two's head notice is appreciated.

Manayunk, Cheesesteak tour, Center City... whatever!

I think Tuesday looks good for me. I'll know by Sunday what my definite schedule for next week is. How about Redding Terminal Market? I haven't been there myself, but everyone says the food there is an excellent sample of Philly cuisine.

I'll be in PHL a few times in the coming months, so I'll keep an eye on this thread and see if it fits any of my schedules.

I haven't seen this thread about cheesesteaks, but I visit omni board just a bit more than I fly Uzbekistan Airways.

I think the best place in Philly for cheesesteakes is Lee's Hogie House (or similar name, definitiely Lee's). It's in Wynnewood, conveniently close to those who live in that neck of the woods (JayBrian).

It's right next to the Wynnewood Theater (IIRC) which recently closed (IIRC!!), and next to a toy store. My memory is fading me, but Lancaster Avenue comes to mind.

mb-- Reading Terminal isn't open in the evenings...

bb-- let me know when you'll be in town. I'll be here until early Dec, except for the entire month of Oct, during which I'll be away.

Well since this started as the Cheesesteak thread, how about Pat's? (I've actually never have been there.) www.patskingofsteaks.com

Tuesday, Aug 15th @ 6:30 good for everyone? If there are any other suggestions for other places, please let them be known!

Just got back from "Philly"

"It's hard to decide what the best is in a city like Philly--we already have the
best of everything, right? Our editors know this city and they've selected the
nominees--the places they think are the very best places around. Now it's your
turn to vote for what you think is the BEST! Got an idea where the best
cheesesteak is? Then vote at
http://newsletter.citysearch.com/go/...hipaAT28017760

Visit and vote for your favorites. New categories will be added each week until
our polls close on September 13. On October 2, we'll unveil your selections,
along with our editors' picks, to create the definitive guide to Philadelphia.'

----
Can't yet say how I'll vote!
