Its not quite NYC, but we are organizing a little get-together in Northern NJ on August 3. Drinks at the Embassy Suites in Parsippany followed by big slabs of beef at either Sage Brush in Cedar Knolls or Arthurs in Morris Plains:

If you do not have a car, you could take a train to Morris Plains and arrangements can be made to pick you up there. So far, eight FTers are attending the miniPIP (party in Parsippany)
