"The Global Soul" (correction)
No, I'm not the publisher's rep, but I have been reading Pico Iyer's new book "The Global Soul: Jet Lag, Shipping Malls and the Search for Home" which just about sums up the lives many posting on these fora must live. One of the few travel books which captures and gives thought to the circumstances which breed this
character, the global nomad who sits beside us on most intercontinental flights. Or, indeed, who may well be us!
Based in SFO, but raised in England, Iyer brings a definite sensibility and outlook to traveling the world, and I find his non-Euro/Ameri-centric observations of the countries and people he visits to be spot on.
Published by Knoff/Random House (of the Bertelsman empire) in May.
Anyone else out there read this book, or recent articles by Iyer in HARPERS, the NEW YORKER or UTNE READER? I'd be interested in your thoughts.
