MEL 6/14
Wondering if anyone would just happen to be in Melbourne AU at lunchtime on 6/14: we had a cancellation.
At any rate, can anyone recommend a favorite spot (somewhat festive, price is secondary, indigenous produce)?

So many options, I have a couple of favourite places, but they tend to be streets rather than specific cafes etc.
When I was at university and visiting melbourne as part of my job as a student union official, we ALWAYS had brunch at "The Fitz" (347 Brunswick St Fitzroy), and the tradition has stuck - they are reasonably priced and the food is good. Otherwise just wander up Lygon Street in Carlton
, or Acland Street in St Kilda
- the food (mostly cafe/smallish places) is good, the prices competitive, and there are always people watching opportunities!!!If you like curry, i heartely recomend the "Carlton Curry House"
(176 Rathdowne St Carlton). For Drinking in Melbourne, I have never been able to go past "The Canada" Hotel (596 Swanston St Carlton ) - $2 "Crownies"
(Crown Lager) one of the better Aussie beers.Melbourne has great food options, and the various sections reflect the ethnic origins of the local community. The places i have listed are not 5-Star locations, but are some of my favourite places to eat in Melbourne. Have fun :-)
