It is about as opposite to a "party city" as I have ever seen in my life. That is the prime reason I moved away after living there for 3 years!
But, it is a very nice city!

wherever FlyerTalkers meet they make that place a party city anyway!
Vancouver is the city I met, for the first time, a FlyerTalker friend face to face in 98 (BlondeBomber) and we started at the CP Hotel Vancouver Bar and finished with lunch at the Restaurant Gavroche (with Lilly's cake as our desert).
