Thailand in June
Well, I did it. I booked the fabled Cathay Pacific First Class flight LAX-HKG-BKK using the vaunted 95,000-mile discounted AA award. I got another 15,000-mile bonus from transferring 60,000 Starpoints into my AAdvantage account so this trip ends up costing me only 80,000 points/miles for a value of over 10 cents/mile!
I'm currently scheduled to arrive in BKK June 13 and return June 21. Anyone going to be there? Anyone want to come?

Koko, I was hoping you'd drop in at least for a couple days so I could show you the REAL Thailand...

QL, an interesting alternative to egroups is:
www.myevents.com
A somewhat similar site but with a bit more flexability. Cheers.

I was going to go to Thailand during that same time, but cancelled my reservations several weeks ago because I was worried that the weather would suck. What's it like in June? Especially on either Koh Tao or on the other side, Koh Phi Phi?
Thanks!
Thanks!

It's the rainy season, 90 and showers. It will be my first time in the rainy season. I've been there the other two (hot and tourist).

QL: You'll love Cathay's FC! Although I'm a confirmed budget traveller usually relegated to exit row coach, hoping for an operational upgrade, a fellow traveller recently revealed the wonders of Cathay's best. The FA's pamper you with so much attention, you may well put your marriage in jeopardy...or at least in question. The meals are exquiste, the wines superb and the inflight entertainment top notch. But best of all is your access to the FC lounge in HKG where you will be treated like royalty. Pedicures, baths, massages are yours for the asking. Meals? Forget about snacks and finger foods...think dim sum and then some! North American airlines will no longer satisfy your newfound hunger for the creative and sensual (not in a sexual context) pleasures that Cathay will expose you to. Methinks you will kiss UA goodbye!

My girlfriend and I are planning on being in BKK a few days after you leave and unfortunately it doesn't look good for me getting to move anything up. Has anythng changed on your end?

Still on... waiting for the Starpoints to show up in my AA account to book the award.
