Cleveland on April 29

Join traveltoomuch, Catman, and me on the North Coast for a Flyertalk get-together Saturday night after the Indians-Red Sox game, at Rockbottom Brewery in The Flats (time: approximately 45 min after the last pitch). If you don't have tickets for the game, come to visit the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Great Lakes Science Center, or one of Cleveland's great museums on University Circle, or shop at the three downtown malls, including the historic Arcade. No need to rent a car, either--RTA light rail from Hopkins Airport takes you downtown for under $5 roundtrip!

Thanks for letting me come along TribeFlyer! I am looking forward to this trip because it will be my first Cleveland trip where I"m not working and can actually see something.

Hopefully a few more Flyertalkers can come along for the fun.

It's never been safe to walk in Cleveland, and why would you want to anyway? <grin> Seriously, during the day the area seems pretty safe to me.

I've been to Cleveland dozens of times and the only real warning I'd have is downtown parking situation is ridiculous during the work week. After 9am very few lots have any space left. I've circled for over an hour a couple of times looking for a space.

Arturo, I'm surprised at you for not checking your facts! It was the Cuyahoga River that caught fire (remember the Randy Newman song refrain from the movie Major League? "Burn on, big river, burn on..." ). Anyway, the city is no longer named The Mistake on the Lake, and is undergoing a resurgence. (Sorry, dg1, about the parking problem--growing pains! Would it be any cheaper to park at the airport and take RTA rail to Public Square?)

In any case, all are welcome to give the city a try (but bring warm clothes--it still gets chilly by Lake Erie until Memorial Day)!

That's ok, I don't blame you for all of Cleveland's problems <haha> I left New York City to avoid public transit and I ain't going to start now

OMNI, This t-shirt always cracks me up: The Only Sign of Life in Cleveland -- Pittsburgh, 128 miles <grin>

I'll be passing through CLE in a few weeks on business and been told to dine in the Flats. Hopefully it lives up to its reputation!

dg1...whaz up????? I've been to your town and had the same experiences. Such is life in the City.

Cleveland is NOT NYC or Chicago or LA. But there is plenty to see and do....depending on your interests.

GO TRIBE!

When I tell people I moved to Cleveland, they always reply "Mistake by the Lake"?

Did I make a mistake?

Looking at the weather forecast for Saturday, it appears as if our Little League Opening Day is going to be a washout.

And to think I opted out of this trip. Darn!
