Air-Liners

Friend of mine told me about the convention this group is having in PHX/TUX in July. I was interested in the airplane graveyard tour, otherwise am on the fence. Anyone here planning on going? It's July 17-20 I think, not sure, have it written down someplace

If you want to see an impressive airliner graveyard (maybe purgatory is a better term), drive north of downtown Los Angeles about 110 miles to Mojave. There are sometimes over 75 planes, some pretty new, waiting for their final disposition.

For information about aircraft in Tucson go to the Pima Air Museum website:

http://www.pimaair.org/

Then check AMARC Tours, this is to tour the Davis-Monthan Airbase "Boneyard"

The convention in Phoenix is the Airliners International Air Fair 2000 Convention. Sorry, I don't have any info on it. If someone else does, please post it.

I'd appreciate that, too. Tentatively made a plan, made a reservation on UConn, but planned to use old vouchers to pay for the tix (I don't think ATO is open at 1 AM), so checked the fare again at 9, and it was up 70 bucks. Gonna keep waiting.

Any other flyertalkers considering going?

I have only been to one airline memorabilla convention and it was about six years ago in Atlanta. I thought it was pretty cool. I believe that this one is the big convention of the year and is sponsored by Airliners Magazine. I might try to go to it if I see an inexpensive airfare to Phoenix but why does it start on a Thursday??? One of my favorite things each month is buying the new copies of the wonderful commercial airliner magazines. The two main ones are Airways which is monthly, www.airwaysmag.com and Airliners which is bi-montly www.airlinersonline.com . There is also an excellent British magazine and a German one that I know about. One of these days I will actually subscribe to these since at times they are tough to pick up on newstands. By the way, there is a show this Sat in Dallas that I might just go to. It's at the Holiday Inn/DFW Airport North. Judging from the calendar in the bag of this month's Airways, there seems to be a few shows each month in various cities in the US and England.

Thanks, burkey, that's the info I was hoping for: the person who told me about it didn't have her flight stuff with her.

I *might* be going to this. Plus, the Scottsdale Valley Vipers (minor league) will be playing at home on July 21-23.

Violist, is it all right if I have them put my drinks on your tab at Don & Charlie's?

Only if I'm there to sign the tab (a possibility that shall be discussed in the future).
