Seattle 21-25 June
First warning to Punki & Quiet Lion: I will be in Seattle for a meeting over 21-25 June. No itinerary yet as I'm trying to decide between CO & UA, and whether I want to go directly afterwards to a convention near Zurich (of all places) or go home first. What do you know about the Edgewater Hotel?

I can't say anything about their rooms but the lobby is very nice. Major renovation a few years ago. Rustic northwestern style with a big fireplace. Location is literally on Puget Sound. Space Needle, Pacific Science Center and Seattle Center is an uphill hike of 6 blocks, Waterfront is about a half-mile walk along the water, Pike Place Market is in the same direction and up two very steep blocks (elevator in the parking garage helps if you need it). The Edgewater claim to fame is the story of how the Beatles fished out of their room window three stories up during a stay in the 1960's.
Ahem....By the way, I am in the Seattle area too!

Rich,
So far June looks clear for us that week. We would love to be your hosts (co-hosts) when you come to Seattle. Do you sail? Would you like to learn? If not we'll just eat drink and listen to funny stories.
Michael must come too. You both have such quirky humor. I am sure you would inspire one another. Oh another party. Yeah!!
Hmmmmmmmmm. Maybe afterward we should all jump on a plane to Zurich and see if there are any Swiss there that we adore.

Rich, the Edgewater is the only waterfront hotel in Seattle. The lobby is very nice as described, but the rooms are very small and tackily decorated for the price. If you want to stay in Belltown I would recommend the Inn at the Market. The Westin, Sheraton, and W are also all very nice, the first two being right in the heart of the shopping district.
Hunnybear and I gave notice on our apartment yesterday and will likely be moving to LA in the near future.

convention near Zurich
near Zurich can be Germany (15 miles), France (60 miles), Italy (140 miles), Austria (90 miles), Frstentum Lichtenstein (110 miles).
any Swiss there
some swiss might be in London (Wimbledon june-26 to july-7) then.

As you probably know, Rich, precision seems to be essential in dealing with either Swiss or Germans- at least according to the widely/not so widely acknowledged "stereotype!"
Presumably this is why the trains and planes in these two countries run on time!
And perhaps also partly why a Swiss watch is so expensive!

I hope moving to LA means a much better position for HB. If so, congratulations!
We will certainly miss having such illustrious FlyerTalk neighbors, but are sure we will run into each other hear and there around the world.
They do have some excellent dance instruction in SoCal.

OK... time to catch up on the replies.
QL: The hotel arrangements are all made in connection with a group meeting. If I had my choice I'd be collecting points from Starwood or Marriott. When you move to L.A., PremEx says to bring sheep.
Punki: I'll definitely look forward to seeing you again and meeting Joe. I don't sail, but I have. (How's that for inscrutable?)
Rudi: The convention that I'm not sure whether I'm going to is in Friedrichshafen.
MileageAddict:OK. You're on the list
doc: As you know, the #1 and #9 trains also run on time, as long as your watch is broken.
