Pre Tampa/Bern's Bash

Well since I proposed it... on the eve of the
Bern's Bash, who would love to have dinner with me???

We just need to pick a nice place (probably NOT STEAK RELATED... although Tampa has a RUth's Chris!) Any suggestions FLoridians?

PUNKI: Thank you!!! Is your sister available as well?

I think essxjay is also getting in around the same time.

The only thing I ask is if we could make it around 9 p-m since I get in about 7:35pm (bearing delays out of IAD!) SOrry but that's the earliest I can get in.

SO if you are in early FRIDAY let me know here or via e-mail and I'll make a reservation somewhere.

Well, I found the name of the restaurant which is supposedly one of the best in Tampa.

Columbia Restaurant, they serve fish and Cuban food. It's the oldest restaurant in Florida. IN Ybor City.

I went here when MileCrazy and I went to Ybor City on a Sunday night, got stranded and everything including our favorite Cigar Bar were closed. Columbia was nice enough to call me us a cab.

I'm willing to go wherever you my friends want to. Ruth's Chris might be overkill. Any suggestions?

Hunnybear and I don't get in till 10 p.m., so we won't be in time for Friday dinner. But I'm sure UA will feed us.

Cuban restaurants in the Tampa area are quite plentiful, and IMHO there are some that top Columbia. Throughout the Tampa Bay area a number of nice restaurants with the name "Pepe" in it (i.e. "Cafe Pepe") exist, and are slightly less expensive. I prefer this group.

I am a paella nut, and the "Pepe" restaurant in downtown St. Pete is the best I've had in Florida. I seem to recall there is a branch of this restaurant group not far from Berns, possibly on Kennedy Blvd (right near a Krispy Kreme).

FYI, the Columbia Restaurant branch in the St. Pete Beach area is not very good. I once hosted a business dinner for 12, and was embarrassed at the service we received.
