Florida F/T Get together?
Is anyone interested in having a get together somewhere in South Florida. If there is interest, I will plan something for sometime in '00.

Where in South Florida do you propose?
Orlando/Disneyworld? I have not been there in 27 years!
Miami? Never been there. ONly flown through there.
Key West??? BUFFETT LAND!!! Been here three times and loved it.
I should be able to come down, bearing new job or going POOF!

Orlando would be nice, though a bit touristy ... a great time to go to Orlando is between Thanksgiving and Christmas (not a lot of tourists), but for a lot of people that's tough obviously because of the timing ... that's why no one else is there either
...
Key West would be great ... I actually grew up in Key West (Key West High School class of '91) and haven't been back since my Sophomore year in college ...

It appears there is some interest.
The place with the most to do is obviously Orlando with all the theme parks and nightlife.
South East Florida is nice too, from Hutchinson Island (Stuart) down to Delray Beach the beaches are fine and there are plenty of hotels. The nightlife is fine in Palm Beach County but not a whole lot to do during the day.
Fort Lauderdale and Miami are on the "commercial side" and unless you are going on business, there is really nothing to do there. Orlando is certainly commercial but tons to do.
Key West is nice but on the expensive side when it comes to lodging and its not the most accessible place. Only commuter planes and its a long drive from Miami.
You may e-mail me with a vote for month and location: [email protected]

Why are you waiting until 00? I'm preparing a trip for October from Chile to USA. I haven't been there for a while. My first stop will be in Miami and Orlando. Do you think you can move your meeting to this year?

I posted and e-mail address last week but it got lost in the weekend snafu.
The reason I was planning on '00 for the Florida get together is due to the fact that in the fall there is the party in paradise and I felt that many who might come to Florida would not if they were also going to the PIP.
What do others think? Im open to any date. Vote here. You can also mail me at [email protected]

I've posted to the email address (very clever address) for a '99 Florida Get-Together because there's plenty of population of FT'ers on the East Coast and Hawaii for the PIP is a pretty long drive for most folks.

I'll go to FLA anytime it is cold in Seattle. I usually go a couple of times a year, at least. I'm a kid at heart, I could just keep going to Disneyland forever (even though I worked there one summer --- 1963, as I recall.) I also love Captiva, the keys, Palm Beach, mostly anyplace with sun.

I'd vote for 2000 as many PIP attendees would want to come to Florida but may not be able to do it (financially or time-wise) so close to the PIP. How about May 2000? Weather's pretty nice then. Regardless, I fly LAX-MCO almost every week, so I think it's safe to say "Count me in!"

Same for me PremEx.
Getting together in florida is fun and much less expensive, so anytime is ok, but as for a formal PIP, lets have the first one first.
If "The Committee" does a good job, we should consider them for organizing another one next year.
Florida can be like Boston and DC were, or Texas will be - a Mini-get together. I'm all for as many as possible.

I think with the PIP close (you'd be surprised how fast the months are flying; in a few days it's JUNE!) we could think about a 0TENTATIVE date for Florida for NEXT YEAR!
And with enough notice I can even make it down there (the extra time will allow me to stock up on Body Shop Sunscreen and post sun healer... which my sensitive skin really needs!)

NJDavid, why should we have all the fun? I hereby nominate you, TolarianWind, Hammertoad, and any other "Right Coasters" that are crazy enough...I mean willing to organize whatever develops for next year.
Though I agree with the Catdude that maybe we should wait until after the PIP before we start recommendations for the next "Big" get-together. I think it's up to TolarianWind as to if he/she? wants this to be a biggie or just one of the many smaller get-togethers. The "host's" perogitive, as it were. IMHO. But I'm game for just about anything. I really enjoyed the Baobab's Boston get-together and am looking forward to Long Beach and Texas!

If nominated I will not run, if elected I will not........sorry, wrong speech.
If it's a mini, I vote I'm too far away to be one of the poo-bahs. If we're talking next year's PIP, well lets see how disasterous...I mean successfull this years is first.
