Is it time for a Seattle meeting?

I know Rudi will be back in Seattle in a couple of months and there are quite a few Seattle area members here....so....what about an official FlyerTalk get-together?

Great idea, the big question is WHEN???

I have to see if I can swing some time off.

I'd love to go to Seattle again! http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Good beer, good coffee, good people- Seattle has everything! Why not? It is my second favorite place in the US after only NYC! Although I hear from my friends in the Great Northwest that the city is being ruined by so many transplanted New Yorkers (they don't mean Punki!).

QuantumLeap Jul 13, 1999 12:05 pm

Yes, absolutely. I'm from the Northwest and would love to see the area again. Also, UA has some good fares DEN-->SEA right now http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Catman Jul 13, 1999 12:26 pm

Speaking of those fares Q-L... From the UA website:

Here are examples of United's off-peak sale fares (roundtrips):

San Francisco-Seattle: $98
Denver-Seattle: $228
Chicago-Seattle: $248
Washington, D.C.-Seattle: $448
New York City-Seattle: $448

The fares must be purchased at least 14 days in advance of travel and within 24 hours of making reservations but no later than July 23, 1999. They require a Saturday night stay and are non-refundable. These fares are available for travel between July 27 and September 30. All fares are subject to availability; seats are limited and may not be available on certain high-demand
flights. At these prices, customers should book early for best availability.

QuantumLeap Jul 13, 1999 4:23 pm

That's an especially good deal for you SFO and ORD folk:

$/mile (rounded to nearest cent)
SFO 0.07
DEN 0.11
ORD 0.07
IAD 0.10
LGA 0.09

Other airlines are matching UA and DL already has a $198 fare DEN-SEA.

I'd be interested to fly up to SEA. Just let me know once something is finalized. If possible, don't do it on Labor Day weekend. Isn't the YYZ FT gathering on 17-19 SEP 1999?

burkey Jul 13, 1999 4:31 pm

It'd be great to meet in SEA, I probably won't have any time off until between Christmas and New Years and I doubt if you all would want to do it then...however, if US happens to have an e-saver that weekend, I might be tempted...besides, I'd really like to tour the Boeing plant.

I would also be interested in a Seattle meet.
It's less than a 4 hour drive from PDX, plus I've got some customers in the area I can see.

I am planning on going to both Seattle and Bellingham sometime in August. Someone plan a date and I will try to arrange my travel around that date.

MileageAddict Jul 14, 1999 12:06 am

I propose meeting at the Metropolitan Grill in city center. If Rudi participates, I know he will approve of this location.

This is probably (after January-99 and may-99) my last visit to SEA for this year - sorry.

Friday, Sep-3[*]AC 22 HNL - YVR Vancouver 23:30 - 08:02*

Saturday, Sep-4[*]UA 6852 YVR - Seattle 11:13 - 12:04[*]1:05 PM SAFECO Field: Mariners-Boston Red Sox (sect 129, row 38, seat 13)[*]7:00 PM teatro ZinZanni with Punki & Joe[*]until I drop going dancing with Punki & Joe[*]SEA-TAC airport Marriott

Sunday, Sep-5[*]UA 2109 SEA - San Francisco 09:00-11:05

QuantumLeap Jul 14, 1999 10:31 am

OK, let me propose a date of Aug 21-22.

AusTXHiker: Yes Sep 17-19 is the YYZ FTGT.

knowitall Jul 14, 1999 12:29 pm

I was just there 7/5-7/9 and wish someone had thought about this earlier. However I did meet some AOK FTers in both SFO(6/26-DGOLDS) & SAN(7/1-CAPTAINMIKE).

Count me in for the future, but I show up more during Seattle's delightful winter.

My usual routes are either MKE-SFO-SEA-PHX-MKE or MKE-PHX-SEA-SFO-MKE, obviously designed to maximize NWA miles through a combo of NWA & Alaska flights. This routing, open jaws on NWA -MKE/PHX & SFO/MKE and Alaska - PHX/SEA/SFO usually costs less than a MKE/SEA roundtrip.

Punki Jul 14, 1999 3:00 pm

If you want to set it for the weekend of 8/21, and if the weather is fine, we would be up for hosting a group sail. We moor at Elliott Bay Marina and from there it is a lovely short sail to tour downtown. We could even dock up and have a late lunch at Anthony's.
