i just got a ticket for $198 from new orleans to seattle -- sep24-sep26. if we have time on saturday, sep25, i'll treat everyone to drinks at the columbia tower club (76th floor of columbia tower).
looking forward to meeting everyone. |
So it looks like the weekend of the 25th and 26th is it. Is there anything anybody wants me to do to help get ready?
The weather can definitely be a little iffy, but if you all bring rain gear, carry a rabbit's foot and drive all the way from the airport to downtown without changing lanes or saying the word "airplane" we might have nice weather. I don't know why these things work, but they do. I might be able to round up enough free tickets for everybody to go over to Blake Island to Tillicum Village for dinner if that is of interest. In entails a boat trip, salmon cooked Indian style and a real Indian dance show at dinner. It's a real northwest thing. The Boeing Flight Museum is a possiblity and I can check out plant toursif you would like. Personally I don't think any trip to Seattle is complete without a tour of the Pike Street Market and maybe a few drinks in Pioneer Square. Pitch in your thoughts and we'll see what we can put together. |
Punki,
Tillicum Village sounds great! I can't believe I have never done this in all the years I've lived here. ------------------ Addicted to airline miles? Check out: The Airline Mileage Workshop |
I'm so sorry I'm going to have to miss this!
http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif If I'm planning to take off Columbus Day weekend (who knows where I'm going to go, any ideas?) then I'm expecting that weekend of the Seattle get together I'm going to be asked to work thru the weekend. Plus I'm going away the weekends of August 6th, the company picnic weekend and I"ve already told them I'm not going. Plus my North of the Border celebration/Red Green Fan club get together wknd of Sept 18th. Have a wonderful time, take lots of pixs and try to plan another one in the future when I can get a better chance to GO! http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif |
Bummer ... going to be there this weekend (July 29 - August 1) and probably not again until October.
If anyone is going there from Boston before the end of August (yes, I know the party will be after that) remember AA's double miles promotion. You have to pre-register. Enter promotion code BOSEA. Works for all classes of service, all fares. |
Will be back up to Seattle in late December '99. Bummer. If the plans get changed to then I can most certainly make it! Otherwise, enjoy the grill and the rain for me! http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Punki --- Count me in, right now I'm scheduled in Piitsburgh from the 19th - 24th so instead of flying home on the 24th Seattle it is. Same airline prices, will try to do the Hilton on points for Friday and Sat nites. Maybe when everyone firms up their plans for hotels etc. we can pitch in for a van for transportation (12 passenger).Maybe we can work out a better rate for both hotels and car rentals. Looking forward to it as I grew up in Bellingham and New Westminster, CA.

Punki...this idea is really blossoming...do you think you and I should meet in advance to work out some details/

Punki...I am also trying to work out my schedule to join the group for part of the weekend. It looks like I may be in Redmond on Friday with a client, stay over for Saturday, but must drive back to PDX Saturday night. May have my wife along also.

Well foo. I'll be in town but very busy that weekend, so I won't be available to do any of this fun stuff. Have a great time.

This was really Mileage Addict's idea to begin with but I am happy to do whatever I can to help. Here is what I would suggest, but then I am here most of the time so I'm happy with anything you guys want.
Friday Evening: Dinner at the Met and then hanging out in Pioneer Square (maybe someplace with dancing?) Saturday Noon: We could meet at the Seattle Center, go up in the SpaceNeedle if anybody wants to and then take the monorail downtown. Hang out at Pacific Place, maybe have lunch and then check out the Pike Street market. Saturday Evening: Take the boat over to Tillicum Village for an Indian smoked salmon dinner and Indian dinner show. (I think I might be able to get free tickets for us all for this.) Hangout on the waterfront upon return. Sunday Afternoon: Sail (on our boat) from Elliott Bay Marina either downtown for lunch at Anthony's or up to Shilshoe Marina for lunch wherever--there are a bunch of restaurants up there. Any or all of the above, or something totally different, will be fine for us, (we are going to be here anyway). MileageAddict is going to call me to work it out. Any input from everybody else is welcom, encouraged, NEEDED. Please post your thoughts and intentions. |
Too far in advance to tell right now, but if it works out, I shall do my best to get there. So that makes me a strong "maybe".
John. |
Punki, sorry I've been addressing most of this to you instead of MileageAddict. I guess
I've dubbed you "SEA Ambassador" by default. Sorry, MileageAddict for slighting your original idea. http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif The schedule sounds great for the parts we can attend. Look forward to it! |
Punki, 24-26 SEP 1999 looks good for me. Please let me know once the plans are definite so I can book my flights. Looking forward to meet you SEA folks!

My NO may become a very strong MAYBE to a possible YES.
I priced a very good airfrae and the voucher I will get from UA for my repriced PIP ticket might make a Seattle Trip doable. If you want me there. Only thing: I will probably have to leave Sunday morning to make it back to work early monday morning. Other thing: is the Boeing plant open on saturdays for tours? that could be the clincher for me going. Stay tuned. Convince me to come. |
