SF Bay Area

Is there a FlyerTalk Community in the San Francisco Bay Area?

Regards
venkat

dgolds Jul 26, 1999 7:03 pm

venkat: Welcome to FlyerTalk. Good to have another "BayArean" here with us.

I've been a resident of San Francisco for 17 years now, which almost qualifies me for native status. There are others, but I'll let them speak for themsleves.

And then there are all those honorary San Franciscans who have spent more time because of delays out of SFO than they would care to think about!

BTW you might want to seek out the threads called "Who we all are" and "Who we all are II" to see who we all are, and maybe even post something there yourself.

Welcome!

venkat --- I'm also from Milpitas, been here for going on 15 years. Good to see you on the boards, we'll have to get together sometime.

All Bayarea FTer's

I was thinking what with Rudy coming to town it might not be a bad time in early Sept for a Bayarea FT get together. Maybe Dinner, drinks something like that before the weather turns.

Cheers Scott

My company's HQ are in SF and I get there from time to time.

Hammertoad Jul 27, 1999 2:51 pm

And just where did the "Who we all are" threads go?

Going blind in my dotage, maybe, but I can't seem to find them via search.

Cheers,

Silicon Valley South - soon to be Cisco country: newly in Morgan Hill, formerly lived in Saratoga 20 yrs. Born LA, lived as a child in a house now under LAX! Pick a place - Milpitas works for me...There is also a Cupertino guy.

Hi all:

I live in Pasadena, CA but am/will be in San Jose/Sunnyvale until Friday and coming back MOnday and Tuesday. Let me know if anyone Flyertalkers wants to get together!?

TropicalFlyer Jul 28, 1999 3:43 am

I'd be interested in a FlyerTalk get together since I'm in S.F. about once per month. I even have a 10 day stint there in October. Yikes!!

Rudi Jul 28, 1999 4:27 am

my (so far only) stay in SFO aug-dec 1999 is
Sunday, sep-5-99 (arriving SFO 11:05AM with UA from SEA)
13:05 (with wine-friends from the Napa-valley) going to the baseball-game (Athletics-Boston)
staying at the SFO airport Marriott
leaving SFO on Monday, sep-6-99 at 08:50AM with UA1045 to SNA

a meeting/drinks/dinner on that Sunday, sep-5-99 (after the baseball-game), or an early morning coffee in one of the RedCarpets on Monday morning before taking off?

Scott the flier Jul 28, 1999 8:24 am

Well what do you think everyone ? Dinner and drinks after the ball game or coffee at the RCC prior to Rudy's departure. Consensus rules as long as it's cool with Rudy. Maybe dgolds or someone from SF can pick a nice restaurant ?

Cheers Scott

dgolds Jul 28, 1999 7:01 pm

I would definitely be up for a SF (or Bay Area) gathering, and either of those times would work for me. I'm so glad this was suggested and would really look forward to meeting Rudi, who contributes so much to this community. I think we should let Rudi decide the best time and date since he is the one with the tight schedule. What's your preference, Rudi - the Sunday AM or the Saturday PM date?

If there's a need to pick out a restaurant, I can definitely provide suggestions if you like.

PS I let my RCC membership expire a couple of months ago; will there be enough with memberships so you can get those of us who are not members entrance?

stimpy Jul 28, 1999 9:21 pm

It figures that I'll be in Switzerland when Rudi is in CA. http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Rudi Jul 28, 1999 10:31 pm

dgolds: thank you. It is Sunday (PM) and/or Monday (AM).

venkat Jul 28, 1999 11:02 pm

I'd try to make it Sunday PM.

regards
venkat

Scott the flier Jul 28, 1999 11:08 pm

Well Rudy it's your choice ! Either one will work for me as I'll just skip a morning of work. http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif
dgold you can get into the RCC with me I just renewed with miles.
I suggest that we move to a new thread under "Flyertalk community" so everyone will see it. If it's cool I can start it in the morning. Otherwise someone start it tonight and leave a link.

Cheers Scott

Rudi Jul 29, 1999 12:50 am

[*]Sunday, sep-5-99, 6:30PM ?[*]BAR: Top of the Mark (Mark Hopkins InterConti, top of Nob Hill) ?[*]dinner: can be decided at the Bar (Chinatown ?)

You guys are making me homesick for the Bay Area. I grew up in San Jose when you could still get a summer job cutting apricots.

JeffS, You are really really old like me! My first house was in Berryessa when it was all cherry orchards - the biggest sweetest cherries I have ever seen (the size of plums). The last one bit the dust last year. I ditched the main part of the valley for South County where Cisco is threatening to pave it over also...Shed a tear for the Valley of Heart's Delight (Cosentino's plea).

philforest Aug 6, 1999 1:10 pm

I was born in San Mateo and grew up in the bay area (nothing south of Santa Barbara is in California), and my 50th high school reunion (Burlingame) is in November. I'll be there for that and wish I could make the reunion that's being discussed here. It sounds great, and I'd sure like to meet Rudi face to face.

Rudi Aug 6, 1999 1:54 pm

http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gifphilforest: I would really look forward to meet you - even if I have to take a refreshing course in russian before ... http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Omni to Karen2:
I remember those cherries. We used to go sneak into the orchards when we were supposed to be on our track team workout runs. Back then Morgan Hill was the samll hick town where you could buy Levi's at a discount price. BTW, I went to school with the family who started the garlic festival.
