Converging on San Diego
How many F-T'ers will be converging on San
Diego during August 20-22? It would be great for the visitors and locals to meet informally over the weekend or at Lindbergh on the departure day.

I will be in San Diego July 1- July 3, and would like to meet other FTers. Anyone interested in PM on TH 7/1 or FR 7/2 at CORVETTE? Other suggestions?
As previously posted I'll be in SFO for Wagner's Ring Cycle Opera from 6/25-7/3, but after performances in SFO on 6/25, 6/27 and 6/30 will need a little SANdiversion prior to the 7/3 finale. I promise NO WAGNERMANIA, but just good FTstuff.

knowitall:
I will likely be in SD one week after you to meet up with a friend coming in from Boston.
On a sidenote, I gave a thought about going to see The Ring at SF after attending the season-closing performance of L.A. Opera's Lucia di Lammermoor (Sumi Jo as Lucia - beatifully sung mad scene!) as I have not seen live opera performance for years. L.A. Times, however, trashed the SF production fo The Ring in its review. What's your opinion?

Knowitall....I live in San Diego, and would be interested in meeting you at Corvette Diner (or other location) either 7/1 or 7/2 to talk "flyer talk". Please e-mail me at <[email protected]> if you're interested. I'm in the process of getting my home computer fixed, so it may be a day or two before I'm able to respond. I'm sending this from work.

KYKLIN: It's hard to have an opinion since our cycle is 6/25, 6/27. 6/30 &7/3. However, I'll let you know of my thoughts either after 2 nights or at the end. The NYTimes on Sat 6/19 trashed the production. That's why tickets are nonrefundable.
CAPTAIN MIKE: Because of the holiday weekend I assume most out of town FTers would prefer TH 7/1, but I'm flexible. Corvette is not the only possibility and you the native might have some better ideas, so let us know. In the past I've had some casual lunches at Point Loma Seafood. As you can tell from above, I will have had 3 nites of SFO WAGNERMANIA (6/25,27,30) and will need to decompress prior to the 7/3 finale. Keep posting here and maybe well expand the list
of FTers.

Knowitall: I can do dinner at Corvette Diner on Thursday, 7/1. We can meet there any time you'd like to talk about FF "stuff". Post your preference here, or e-mail me at <[email protected]>. Let me know what you look like or what you'll be wearing. Looking forward to meeting you!

CAPTAIN MIKE & SAN FTers:
It's FT @ CORVETTE TH 7/1 - 7pm-?
============================
I look like my user name, probably wearing jeans and AARPish (greying @ the sides) & glasses.
I'm on the UA SFO/SAN Shuttle 7/1 around 11am, so 7pm will be ok. See you then.

This was indeed a "mini-get-together", since Knowitall and myself were the only two there. We had a nice, but noisy, dinner at Corvette Diner, then desert and coffee at a quieter spot two doors down. We talked "flyer talk" from 7:00 p.m. till 11:00 p.m. and it was great. It turns out that Knowitall now lives in the same city where I was born and grew up, so we exchanged stories about southern Wisconsin as well. I found Knowitall a really nice guy, despite his liking for Northwest Air Lines (from his stories, it does sound like they've treated him really well, however).
This will serve as an open invitation to any readers of this board: If you are ever in San Diego, I'd truly like to meet. Contact me at <[email protected]> and we'll do lunch, dinner, or whatever you'd prefer!
SDflyer: We looked for you at Corvette, even had you paged on the loudspeaker! What happened? We missed you!

Captain Mike & others:
San Diego is a GREAT PLACE! Captain Mike knows a lot of "stuff" and as he mentions also hails from BeerTown(Milwaukee).
SD FLYER - we missed you, but there's always next time.
The funniest part of the evening was going to retrieve my car @11pm, but finding that Corvette had closed @ 10pm and the valet guys had gone home. Fortunately they had my keys at Corvette and the cleanup folks were looking for me.
