Long Beach PiP

OK, after our impromptu gathering last night, we decided to have our Frequent Flyer Flyin on the weekend of June 5th and 6th.

We'll have an evening activity on June 5th and afternoon fun on June 6th. That will hopefully give folks time to do other sightseeing.

So who's in?

PremEx Apr 13, 1999 11:49 am

Mistah Love, party of one.

Catman Apr 13, 1999 12:21 pm

I'm sorry but I will not be able to make it that week. I have a lot of committments already confirmed. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

Please don't revoke my California visa. I will be coming out later this summer.

So Mr. Love, have a PEPSI in the cat's absense.

auh2o Apr 13, 1999 12:27 pm

Confirmed!

PremEx Apr 13, 1999 9:21 pm

Catman, I consider you a friend. But I have no intention of letting any libation that even resembles a Pepsi near my lips at this event. I will be honored to toast your Catness in the presence of all assembled, but please let me off the hook, and appoint some other poor sod your absentee cola drinker. I beg of you!

Catman Apr 13, 1999 11:58 pm

Ok PremEx my friend. You choose the drink with which to toast absent self and my absent cats.

And enjoy a cigar for me for when I can enjoy one with all of you eventually.

kyklin Apr 14, 1999 12:29 pm

Count me in! Party of either 1 or 2...

laxflyer Apr 15, 1999 6:22 am

I'm in! I look forward to meeting you guys and gals.

onefreeman Apr 15, 1999 6:51 am

The Elliotts (onefreeman/raeban), party of two.

We're staying aboard the QM. Probably fly in on Friday and run over to Catalina.

Should be a blast!

Old Gold Apr 16, 1999 5:50 pm

June 5-6 doesn't look good for me, but I've marked Rudi's Sept. 9 layover at SNA date on my calander. I'll try to mix a little business and pleasure then.

newself Apr 16, 1999 9:49 pm

Stimpy,

I will be out rototilling in Santa Maria that weekend but you know me, we can always get together for a cold one at Legends.

Oh Gold,

I will probably be joining you and Rudi if my boss doesn't fly me off somewhere.

Rudi Apr 17, 1999 8:05 am

I am looking forward for this - and tell me if I can help your business!

auh2o May 18, 1999 6:37 pm

Just wanted to bring this forward. This is still on!

Stimpy is in Sweeden for a few days but will post more details upon his return.

ranles May 18, 1999 6:46 pm

I would like to come, but unsure of availability. It is in my backyard, almost. Also have a Godson in the PD there. Details?

PremEx May 18, 1999 7:45 pm

Still marked on my calendar!

stimpy May 18, 1999 11:35 pm

ja hej dere, we sure are looking forward to seeing everyone on June 5th and 6th.

MRLIMO May 19, 1999 2:43 am

Just learned of your Long Beach PiP a few moments ago. Count me in, please. The name is Limo, MRLIMO, that is--party of one or two. Long Beach as in LGB, I presume?

How about a Sunday morning Brunch included in your planning? There are some excellent ones in the area! Just a thought, to jump-start the day, "California style."

Looking forward to learning the details. And Catman, not to worry, the California Department of Visas just informed me you are still a member in good standing in spite of your pending no show in Long Beach! Will see the rest of you June 5th and 6th or on the lovely island of Oahu in November, if not sooner?

Rudi May 19, 1999 4:32 am

I am still at your disposal for september-9 (SNA) - unfortunately not for june.

Old Gold May 19, 1999 9:53 am

I have Sept. 9 marked on my calender !

stimpy May 19, 1999 3:53 pm

The best Sunday brunch is on the Queen Mary. It's about $20-30 I think, but well worth it.

LGB has a lot of flights now. AA is planning to ad ORD soon.

Craig6z May 19, 1999 11:14 pm

Stimpy,

I'm driving back to LA from a San Diego business meeting, on Sunday morning. I'll be heading up the 405, and will therefore pass through Long Beach. Is there a specific itinerary for Sunday setup?

Craig

stimpy May 19, 1999 11:27 pm

No specific itineraries yet and I'm worried that we won't finalize Sunday's schedule til Saturday night. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Unless folks want to agree to the Queen Mary at say noonish for brunch? If so, we need to get a list together of all serious attendees so I can make a reservation.

MRLIMO May 19, 1999 11:59 pm

stimpy

One firm and one tentative Sunday Brunch reservations on The Queen Mary, please. Excellent choice, by the way. The name is Limo, MRLIMO, that is. Please advise of the exact time. Thank You!

PS Just received the Sunday Brunch menu via FAX and it is incredible! Well worth the $28 (plus tax and gratuity, of course).

OK, since a few of us have met at Legends already, why don't we meet there again for lunch on June 5th?

Legends is a famous sports pub on the popular 2nd street strip in the Belmont Shore's neighborhood. It's about 5-10 minutes in a taxi from Long Beach Airport. The number for Legends is 562-433-5743

Belmont Shores is a couple of miles east along the coast from downtown Long Beach where most of the hotels are. There are also a few hotels by the airport. Marriott and Holiday Inn come to mind. But all the action is downtown or in Belmont Shores.

During lunch, we can discuss options for Saturday night and Sunday Brunch although the Queen Mary sounds like the winner for brunch.
I can give an early recommendation for Pine Street downtown Saturday night. It has plenty of wonderful clubs. One of my favorites is Allegria. It's an authentic Spanish Tapas bar with Flamenco dancing.

Sound good to everyone?

PremEx May 28, 1999 9:27 pm

Whatever you folks decide is fine with me. By the by, Cheri, her kid and I will be taking off for our 5-day trip to Wallet Disney World tommorrow (Sat) and I will be without electronic communications of any kind. So please keep this in mind if you have a head count or something while I'm gone. I won't be back 'til Wednesday, so count me in for whatever. See 'ya real soon.

newself May 31, 1999 11:40 am

Even though I am going to miss my hometown PIP next weekend, I just wanted to let everyone know that the annual Cajun/Zydeco festival will be going on in Long Beach on the 5th and 6th down at Shoreline Village.

That will give you something else to see while visiting our great city. Don't forget to visit 2nd St in Belmont Shore! Have fun, I will miss meeting all of you, and I will look forward to the next one. Hopefully, I can free up some time to start visiting the other PIP's in your hometowns soon.

Dave

ranles Jun 2, 1999 2:21 pm

If we sunday brunch at the Queen, it looks like two.

Are we still on for lunch at Legends? What time?

kyklin Jun 4, 1999 3:27 pm

Please mark Ken & Danielle down for lunch on Saturday @ Legends. Will be heading back to Boston on the red-eye and miss Sunday's activities. http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

stimpy Jun 4, 1999 3:40 pm

Yes, noonish for Lunch at Legends.

For those who are flying in, we are enjoying La Nina here in So Cal so bring a jacket for the evenings.

stimpy Jun 4, 1999 4:36 pm

Oh yeah, most of you probably don't know what I look like. I'm 6'1" with red hair. I'll probably wear a white British Airways First shirt.

QuietLion Jun 4, 1999 8:08 pm

Hunnybear and I will be in LA Sunday and could possibly make Sunday Brunch at the Queen Mary if there is still room. Is it a go?

QL

stimpy Jun 4, 1999 10:43 pm

I believe so. Several of us have committed for the Queen. We'll finalize things tomorrow.

MRLIMO Jun 5, 1999 1:16 am

Legends it is, around noon tomorrow and to finalize Brunch with the Queen on Sunday. I'm looking forward to finally meeting some of the Frequent FlyerTalkers!

PS Don't forget to pick up your California State Super Lotto tickets prior to the libations. We may be having too much fun later in the day to remember. One dollar could land you up to nearly $45 Million!!! Although, after participating on this board for nearly three months, I really believe that some of us would rather take the payout in 45 million miles, instead!

MRLIMO

stimpy Jun 5, 1999 5:54 pm

We had a nice lunch at Legends with ranles, premex, kyklin, arturo, mrlimo and myself. We meet downtown at the Cohiba Room at 7pm tonight and the Queen Mary Sunday at 12:30.

Catman Jun 5, 1999 8:09 pm

Arturo showed up????? Who is this person???

Maybe he did because he knew CMDR CATCOP was NOT going to be there.

Anyway, I'm glad you all are having a good time and I hope to get to Long Beach eventually.

QuietLion Jun 5, 1999 11:07 pm

Hunnybear and I are HERE and will JOIN you for the Queen Mary fiesta! (Columbian coffee is now being served on the port side...)

Do I need to call the restaurant and add us to the reservation or do you already have enough spots?

We're looking forward to making FIRST CONTACT with fellow FlyerTalkers!

QL

stimpy Jun 6, 1999 1:54 am

Yes Arturo is here and he was at the previous LB party. I just got home and left him at the Tiki room with Mr. Limo and Brea the bartender.

No worries at the Queen. Just meet us there at 12:30 and look for the tall guy with red hair.

Rudi Jun 6, 1999 4:39 am

Catman: I can't understand your curiosity on behalf or arturo: arturo can be seen at DJDavid's photo gallery for a long time already:

and please (everybody): never reveal arturo's other identity - I am satisfied if arturo just posts, yes I am at the PiP (etc) - I will just believe it. That's it!

Catman Jun 6, 1999 9:29 am

Rudi, you are correct... but you know that Cats are curious. Even though that has KILLED the cat!

And please DO NOT reveal Arturo's identity. Let it be the best keep secret of FlyerTalk!
