Can someone explain why BA won the European FF award? I thought BA has some of the highest fuel surcharges and long haul award prices?

I am not complaining, I just wonder how their program is better than for instance Finnair (in OW) or the other well-known European programs (Lufthansa Group, Flying Blue etc). I am looking for a basket to put my Oneworld as well as Skyteam miles into.

Thank you.

An email address is basically what is required to join FT. Any "email address" can vote.

There could have been more UK'phillic voting email addresses than EU'phillic.

We audit for signups that appear to have been made only to vote in the FTAs. New signups did not affect the outcomes.

Other than that, there may be simply more FT members that prefe BA over most EU carriers ...

Anyone mind elaborating why Hertz is so good? Is it just competitive pricing?

It was Best Rewards. To me, I think Hertz has the best rewards program. However, I've switched to National because I can pick from the Executive Isle. With Hertz PC or 5* I would rent full size and get an Altima with 30k miles. On National I rent midsize and get Charger (including RT), Challenger, Camaro, F150 4x4 (it was snowing), etc. The National rewards take forever to build up free days while with Hertz I still have almost 30k points to use. To me the car I drive every week is more important that reward points.

Interesting QR's Privilege programme beat out Cathay. Totally weird you can fly from either Auckland or Perth and get the same number of Q points - just the Q miles increase, but it was the Q credits that enticed me to try them out. QR have had some cool promo's though like kid flies free with adult or basically 1 J flight return and they give you gold from starting out of AKL (finished now).

Next year's European Award may be different after BA's introduction of buy-on-board in EEEKonomy (Coach to our American friends).

I have the feeling that people are not very happy with that, despite BA's endless assertion that that's what people wanted! "Yes, please cancel the free food and drink, and make us pay for it instead ... if there's enough loaded, the cart actually makes it all the way through the cabin, and the payment device works."

The launch of BA BoB was something like a disaster.

If BAEC somehow managed to win Europe/Africa one hates to think how Alex Cruz will use this to feed his delusions about how beloved his cost-cutting measures are with pax.

Either that or he regards the money he paid to a Belarusian hacker to vote for BAEC using a gazillion dummy accounts to be money well spent!
