So my plan is pretty much fixed at this now:

Friday 20th May

ABZ-LHR-SVG-LHR-SIN

Saturday 21st May

SIN-SYD

2 nights in Sydney Hilton

Tuesday 24th May

SYD-BNE

2 nights at Brisbane Hilton

Thursday 26th May

Train from Brisbane to Gold Coast

4 nights at Hilton Surfers Paradise Gold Coast.

Monday 30th May

OOL-SYD-SIN-LHR

Tuesday 31st May

LHR-SVG-LHR-ABZ

Some questions for those of you local to Sydney and Brisbane.

Are the airports reasonably easy to get to/from?

Are the Hilton hotels in good locations for pubs etc?

I'm doing Qantas for the SYD-BNE and Virgin Australia for OOL-SYD, positives/negatives?

Both SYD & BNE have train services to the city centre. SYD is close to the city centre. Look at the airport web sites. They both give information on transportation from/to the airport. And look at post 6

Both QF & VA are OK. Others to/from Oz Fest may be the same flights.

I liked how VA had a ton of flights between OOL and SYD. I think it was double or triple the number of flights of QF. I was more worried about backup flights in case of a cancelletion that i booked VA and gave up earning miles of QF. Well and I also found VA to be cheaper.

Booked QF for Sydney to Brisbane and Virgin Australia for Gold Coast to Sydney as the QF timings left me with just over 2 hours to get to my BA flight back to SIN which is too risky for me when travelling so far home!

I am a maybe as well... haven't planned anything for next year except the inaugural WAW-NRT in January... So I should be able to squeeze in a little bit of Australia.

Gold Coast hotels are getting cheaper for those coming from the U.S.
AUD/USD dips below $0.7000 for the first time since April 2009 Sitting at 69.1 cents today.

Please put me down as Platinum.

Not sure where I will be staying but more than likely not the Hilton. Maybe Accor as I should be Platinum by then.
