I wish. I won't be able to attend the KUL portion, so I am focusing on the Sihanoukville trip. It is almost as if Sihanoukville has taken over as the more substantial part of the Do, with KUL playing the role that the Post-Do usually does. But that's just my personal two cents. I will follow up with the other organizers to see if they have made any progress on KUL.

Well, I certainly hope there will be something.... as I am shortening a trip to Siem Reap... and one to Bangkok simply to be back in KL for what is supposed to be taking place. chchkiwi, I believe, is doing the same. Nothing to be done about that now.... intraAsia tickets bought and paid for... hotels booked.

Been some discussion between Awesome Andy, italdesign, Raffles longhaul, TravelKane and me regarding an informal SIN get together on Wednesday 13 January.
Upon Travelkane's prod, I have offered to organise dinner at 7pm at Kok Sen Kopitiam 30 Keong Saik Road in Chinatown. A favourite place of mine but not been there in a while, so a group is a good excuse. Plan would be to meet there, punctually, but a few of us are likely meeting at the Intercon and heading from there. I am not willing to get into a huge organisational frenzy over this, I am happy for it to be listed as a pre-do do and I would need some idea of genuine numbers by 11 Jan. Happy to be PM'd about it. Otherwise, a nice, casual "in SIN" get together. |
InfoWorks. arrive MI 326 (11.10am) Thur 14 Jan. Depart MI327(14:35) Sat 16 Jan. Stay Intercon or Hilton or both.

With that said, since they are doing this on a volunteer basis, it might be wise to consider what the saying about catching flies with honey vs. vinegar. If you don't want to fly to KUL without seeing a plan, your hotel reservations are probably cancellable (unless you booked fully prepaid). As for the plane tickets, that would be unfortunate, but post #15 says that you booked your KUL tickets before anything was formally announced, so at some point we have to take responsibility for our own actions. |
Some of the comments read a little harsh in writing form (I'm probably a culprit at that too), but I think most are looking for a little bit more of communications. While it's good to have concrete plans early, it can often be difficult to do so. However, it would be nice to have some updates every now and then, say, on day x, we are planning to have the main do dinner, and we are trying to make a booking at a restaurant on street ABC. Then on day y, we are looking to head out of town in mid morning, but if plans fall through for this, we will investigate on either activity m or n, or something similar.

@EsquireFlyer I don't think my earlier comments were out of line or 'vinegary' at all. As Andy just reiterated, it would be nice to know if we are meeting for drinks, having dinner somewhere or what. 'There is plenty to do in Kuala Lumpur' isn't what we usually hear at this stage of the game especially for those of us who have never been to KL before. While many of you have focused your main energies on the 'after do' there are many other of us who focused our planning around Kuala Lumpur which, as you will notice, is the name of the Do. And, as for the snarky comment about canceling hotel plans, that would totally be feasible... if we weren't going to be in those cities.... so, no, nothing is cancelable at this point. |
Updated wiki with my plans. Looking forward the to activities in KUL.
Hoping a rough itinerary can be shared soon so I can plan my tourist options around the DO plans. ^ |

By OP not having any activity since June 2015, the original planners are sending a clear signal that they have long abandoned the DO. That said, given the # of experienced FT'ers attending I feel confident we'll figure something out and have a good time. That's why I'm proceeding despite the lack of formal plan. |
Update on KUL Plans
Just wanted to let everyone know that the KUL plans are coming together. I've seen the preliminary itinerary, and it looks great. The KUL organizers are just tweaking a couple of final items, and then they will post--likely within the next 24-48 hours, if not sooner.
I'm just the messenger here, but wanted to let you know that a draft KUL plan exists, and a preliminary version is imminently forthcoming to the thread. Thanks for your patience. -ZB |

Confirmed. UA ticket EWR-SIN was less than $900.
KUL details are in the wiki post. Hilton non-refundable "Winter Sale" rate booked, now I see on the Hilton board that their Exec Lounge is closed for re-model. |
